Of all of the things I tried on SSD games didn't seem any better. Mostly because they are loading large chunks of data into RAM which will take time. Small apps like Word are the ones to benefit from quick opening times. Photoshop loads faster too.
When I had two SSD I decided to try using the larger one (64gb) to store a few games on. Was all rather pointless really.
Totally. I mean, it's not like you can't see how quick they are.

You really, honestly, truly have no idea what you are talking about there.
It's not just Windows. As one example here. When your PC loads something that is bigger than the free ram it has it then takes virtual memory. That virtual memory is a chunk of your hard drive. That chunk of your hard drive is EXTREMELY slow when compared to the speed of your working memory. Thus, the faster your hard drive can act as virtual memory the faster your entire system will become. And you don't just put Windows on there. On mine I have -
Windows (obviously)
VLC
Skype
Photoshop inc scratch volume
Firefox
IE
NLpro
Adobe Acrobat
Virtualdub
Revo
FRAPS
MSN
Nero
repeat ad nauseum. You put all of your running apps on there apart from games. So EVERYTHING loads faster, EVERYTHING works faster ETC.
Nobody likes a slow PC me? I will take anything that will give any extra trace of speed and I can tell you now NOTHING on the computer market today will add the sort of speed boost to your PC that an SSD will. Nothing.
