Hi all,

Im new to the forum and I dont see a area to suggestions about full machines.

Well I gonna buy a new computer and would like your opinian.

MotherBoard : Asus P6X58D-Premium

Processor : i7 950

Power suplly: Crosair AX850

Graphic card: EVGA GTX 570 Superclocked ( waiting for release)

Memory : Corsair PC3-12800 6GB DOMINATOR CL8 (3x2GB) DDR3 or GSKILL RIPJAW DDR3 12800 1600MHZ TRI-CHANNEL (3x2GB)

HardDrive : WESTERN DIGITAL 3,5" Caviar Black WD1002FAEX - 1 TB - 7200 rpm - 64 MB - SATA-600

Case : Cooler Master Haf 932

Now. Its to Play games. To OC to 4Ghz the processor ( advise from tom in youtube videos =)). And to upgrade to Dual SLI in a year.

My biggest doubt are in Memories. Im looking for G.Skill because people here in Portugal they said the they are good and cheap ( dunno).

Thx All,

Ralm

P.S.: Especting sugestions. Budget 1350€. Buy location Portugal.

If you can i'd go for a SSD for a bootdrive, you'll notice the difference XD and some Mushkin RAM if you can get hold of it over there.

What CPU cooler you going for? I didn't see one mentioned, obviously if you OC to 4GHz on stock you'll melt us all into a black hole XD

All you said its true and I know that XD.

No SSD for now why?? a bit expensive. In 3 month after i buy the computer I will buy SSD ( no worry), and I chose OCZ Vertex 2 60Gb x2 in RAid

Cooler, I will not do OC right away when the computer is new, only pass sometime too. I will use a Noctua NH-D14 Recommended by tom, because from what I watch the reviews videos she is a very goog cooler.

About Muskin, this is the only forun I heard talk about muskin Rams and I dont think is available here. Well I never saw it in the major stores. =)

Any more sugestions?

OMG why wast your $ on a SSD if all you going to use it for is to have OS on it? turns on and off faster woopy dooo

I guess you don't have an SSD then

. Windows all around is faster. At first it's hard to notice until you get back on a PC with a hard drive. Then the PC with the mechanical hard drive feels painfully slow. I had to go as far as getting SSDs for all my work machines after I got one at home.

It's small (80GB) so I only have one game at a time installed on it, but the loading times in WoW were a fraction of the time.

n000b SSD's will make the single biggest difference to the snappiness of a rig. You obv havnt got one or you would never have said that.

Yeah but dont RAID them mate

The results from OCZ's website from their own testers state their results come from

I'm betting that our results are higher because of drive conditioning: partition alignment, diskpart clean all, secure erase, etc. Since TRIM doesn't always pass through to RAID arrays, used drives will produce lower performance results.

YAY i finally made a smart comment. See what you can learn things from this site XD.

Noctua NH-D14 (good choice)of course. After reading this site and getting one for my new rig I would use nothing else. So cool and so quite.

As for SSD, get one and you'll see it's not just boot up and shoot down that speeds up. Your whole system speeds up XD.

I had to install Vista onto a 250gb Baracuda II yesterday (SATA 2).

By the time it was on with all the updates installed and all the restarts I wanted to cry.

Even on a Phenom 2 machine with 4gb Dominator it took bloody ages to even load up the gadget bar. Using it felt like it was in sloth mode.

As for not using TRIM? won't be rude on that though I do posess several very rude words for people who don't use it.

I found out yesterday that my Patriot hot swap RAID array box does not allow TRIM passthrough. To that ends it came as no surprise when running the Windows IE that my score had dropped from 7.2 to 6.1 and I was already noticing sluggish behavior from the SSD exactly one month or so from the day of installing Windows.

But you know? I'm getting sick and f***ing tired of trying to explain this to idiots. As if the rapid performance drops weren't bad enough? Don't even go there on the serious ass pain of restoring the performance. Noobs should leave SSD raid well alone.

lol alien calm down

go for dominator or mushkin energy and get samsung f3 spinpoint 1tb for ur storage hdd rest seems ok

your not getting my point, if you just have it as a boot drive the thats all that runs faster is that ever comes with your OS, big woopy doo, turns on faster, woopy dooo games are on other hard drive soo they are the same seed, woopy doo i don't gain anything o wait the pc turns on and off faster :-D don't care. when the $ go down so i can get a OCZ IBIS 240GB drive then I'll be happy i can have my os+ games on that.

No, you're not getting the point. An SSD as a boot drive makes the whole OS faster, not just booting up or shutting down. Even the Start Menu is faster. The OS as a whole is faster.

Having games on an SSD will not only improve loading times, but can also cure those little hiccups (stutters) in games when the game is loading textures during gameplay.

umm said that, "what ever is on your os" can you read??

Forgive me, but if you could form a proper sentence maybe I could read it better.

"all that runs faster is that ever comes with your OS, big woopy doo" - This is kind of the whole point. You do realize that everything runs within your OS, right? Making everything that comes with your OS faster would make the whole system faster. See where I'm going with this? You have no clue so please stop arguing. I understand SSDs are expensive, but you are getting a huge performance gain for the price. Anyone who has used SSDs here will agree with me.

Exactly! it's faster than a mechanical hard drive. You might disagree on the price but don't diminish SSD.

your OS is one of the most important part of your PC, if you increase the data transfer rate your whole system becomes much more faster.

Not Everything in on your OS, only thing i use whats on the OS is the internet, thats all, thats all thats on there, WORD is not on OS, and I'm not sure if i should be sorry for my BAD English.

and "Even the Start Menu is faster" my NON-SSD 200GB 7200RPM 1.5GB per sec 8MB start menu start up just fine, its not slow at all.

Word would not benefit SSD, only OS and games.

Word would benefit from an SSD by a huge margin if installed on it. Everything will benefit from being installed on an SSD, especially if the OS is installed on on. It is going to be really, really fast and snappy.
