New Camera

Sorta counts as hardware I'd say.

Anyway over the last week I've put a couple of hours into finding a new camera. I only really have my N95 camera which has done a great job but isn't quite as good as the real thing. Apart from needing one generally I'm also going Vegas in May and am doing this:

So I want a good camera for that day out. Also for taking pics of any new hardware I bring back ;) .

Anyway after much researching and changing my mind I've decided on the one I kept coming back to:

I ordered it off Ebay late Friday night from Hong Kong and had an email saying it had been shipped Saturday morning and would be with me at work by Monday morning. Well impressed with that!! I've checked the tracking and its been in Poyle near Heathrow since this morning.

Get my new toy tomorrow :D

The Canon Iixus are awesome by all accounts, as are the Panasonic Lumix if you want point and click.

If you want DSLR then it's a Canon EOS 400D (or 450), or a Nikon D40

Don't get one off eBay, especially not from Japan

Pixmania or onestopshop are pretty good iirc

I have a canon powershot s3 IS and its great for the money. Not a digital SLR but not a point and shoot. Its a great 'bridge' camera for prints up to A3 size :D

Off ebay??

Hong Kong??

Good luck to you sir ;) make sure it aint a replica too :p

Na should be ok.. This place has a proper shop too and over 11000 positive feedback. I'd be wary otherwise but I mean surely some out of the 11000 would have noticed replicas?

Im a canon man myself :D

Was looking at the Canon S5 IS but decided against it. Had an Olympus before and it was great.. Only downer now is that silly XD memory but I'm sure I'll cope :) .. That being said my girlfriend bought one at the same time as me and went for the Powershot SX100.. Very nice camera.

Was looking at Pixmania as I get their weekly newsletter and they are normally cheap but as above I have faith in this shop.. Even if it did go

All the way from Hong Kong in within 3 days at £35 less than in the UK.

Will get playing tonight :D

i have the ixus 65, great little camera. Although i might buy a digital slr for my new zealand trip. Seen some good prices on the last gen canon eos, might go for one of them.
