Hi all,
Ran in to some problems last night whilst installing some components in the new build.
I bought my new cpu (AMD 9950) which meant I could install the cpu/heatsink/memory/graphics/mobo into my cosmos-s. I was so excited as it has been sitting in the cupboard for over 2months waiting for AMD to sort out their processors etc etc.
Anyway, so all fitted in and looking neat and tidy (pics will be posted tonight on my other thread "The Animal nearly lives") put back side panel on then put the front side panel on but due to the thickness of the fan on the panel and the size of the heatsink (Thermalright Ultra120 Extreme) it couldnt close. ARRGGHH!!!!
Now to solve this problem and not run out and spend more money on a smaller heatsink or even watercooling (yet to come) I have had to remove the fan and now all is well.
So please be warned anyone who has the same combination as me. This heatsink causes a lot of issues due to its size. I have no idea how it performs as of yet but it wants to be worth it or its gonna be a flying heatsink too!!
