Hello always wanted to build pc finally doing it it will be mainly for gaming fps and driving toying with the idea of three screen setup or 3d not both well out of budget or vuzix vr1200(when it comes out) trying to pick parts and still got a few not sure items could do with help with them and as lots of my searching and reading/watching has been with overclock3d so thought this would be the best place for help(love the straight up reviews) and if there are any parts might not work/fit/better aviable etc here goes

Amd 970be overclock 4ghz

m4a98td evo

g skill 2x4gb cas7 1333mhz

antec 902

crosair tx850w

just a 7200rpm 32mb+ hdd samsung/wd

thinking of 2gb gtx460 or 560 sli maybe a 580 and sli later

cnps9900 crosair h50 looks/space/quiet are the main reasons

got a 22 inch AOC vga would adding two more be alright for 3 screen setup

any comments welcome
 
so you want SLi with AMD?

well i have a nforce board and ive had it years and its been no issue but apparently they arnt that good lol (i think tom said aswell in a vid)

you could lok into this as thats meant to work just fine.

or look into saving more and getting x58 or SB setup

even staying with ur setup its just wahat u wanna do fella
 
you are unable to sli with amd, the boards with a nvidea chipset are almost non existent. unless you can go for an intel cpu and motherboard no sli for you but you coud just get an ati card and crossfire them in the future.

i also reccomend buying a amd 965 or 955 cpu as they are around 20-30 pound cheaper and there is no ofference in them apart from the clock speed so a 955 at 4GHz is just as good as a 970 at 4GHz
 
my first thoughts where intel but any of the intel chips that seem to be better than the amd push my budget too high. i've heard alot of people say the nforce board are bad but no real reason?

just thought the 970 would be a better bet for overclock with low watts(heat)
 
SLI on AMD can be done, but it can get tricky whit the drivers to. I would recommend go for an intel nvidia or only amd build. An eyefinity capable card from amd can run 3monitors (single card), but for nvidia 3d you will need two cards. I would recommend a 1055, 89fx board, 4gb ram, 800w psu and a 6970. But if you have some sort of brand loyalty get the nvidia 560 it is way much better than the 460(even the 2gb version) but it costs more

if you can you should get a hexcore processor like the 1055t or 1090t. i personaly would get a hd 6970 if you are interested in muli-screen setup. if you can give us your budget we could be more helpfull with part selection.
 
thinking about £400 started with £1000 overall but already passes that got no loyalty to anyone just thought the mix of the 2 would give best bang for buck and overclocking seems the amd cpu overclock well and same with the nvidia cards intel chip seem to do better on water and as a newbie bit put off by this,(and the price intel) already got the 970be the only bit i have got yet but would ebay no problem might make a small profit too

(in total al the parts listed would add to approx 680 pounds. you could save money by downgrading to a HD 6950 or changing the case to a cheaper alternative and the psu to a non-modular psu. the list above includes no additional fans or a watercooling.

if you dicide to do hd 6970 crossfire i would reccommend an upgrade to a 700w PSU but with hd 6950 crossfire the 650W should be fine.

thanks you've give me some things to think about think i would go msi or asus for the motherboard tho as for the 6970 do u think it would handle full settings on 3 monitors for games like dirt2 some fps i know crysis or 2033 would be out of the question

To be a 110% clear, they are not going to run SLI. You will get a performance gain, this is just because of the Lucid chip on it. You do need the driver support from Lucid in order to gain performance in games/applications. If the application is not support, there will be no gain. Oh and it doesn't scale as well as SLI. However, it is a pretty cool technology.
 
Thanks for the comments but now im confuzioned lol so lets get to the gd bit with two of the same cards in mind either green team or red team is this going to be a better choice than the 890fx or the 980a

does look gd best of both worlds(1ati+1nvidia) but does any body know how hit and miss it is tho

if i used a 6750 and a low grade nvidia for just physx would this work every time it was needed
