New build advice

So been looking at getting a new PC. I am a photographer so my excuse for getting a gaming machine is I need the processing power for my work. Thats my excuse and I'm sticking to it

So this is one of my later drafts of what I will probably end up with. I am thinking that this is very close to what I want but I am hoping for some final thoughts before I pay out cash money.
So some of my own thoughts, I know some of it is over the top but the Z77 just looks amazing plus 5 year warranty which is nice. The Antec P280 case is amazing so not changing that one, been obsessed with them for years and I have 2 others systems in their Performance One cases.

Any thoughts on splashing for a higher spec CPU? I was considering the i7-3770K, althought I am quite happy with the one below, the i5 cores have always been good for gaming, but just last minute jitters I assume, so any thoughts on CPU or in general?

I would say you could get a better case in that price range, maybe one of NZXT, Bitfenix or corsair's offerings? PSU wise a lot of the people on the forum rate corsair so might be worth looking into that. They've just updated their PSU range so you might be able to get a last gen for a good price. Rest seems good although i'm sure someone will recommend a better thermal paste (one thing to note most branded cpu coolers come with the manufacturers grease so it might not be a necessary purchase)

I would upgrade the CPU to a 3770K if you are going to be processing for work. I'd save the money on the motherboard as WillSK suggested. You could go as low as an MSI z77-G45 or a gigabyte D3H and still get all the performance and overclocking of a more expensive board. The z77 range of mobos are almost all very decent.

The RAM looks fine and is great for gaming but I would try and sneak in 1866/2133MHz for your work purposes if have a spare bit of money - it will help with the photo processing.

You don't seem to have an SSD on the list! I highly recommend you get one! Crucial M4s, Corsair Neutrons, Samsung 830/840, Intel 520s. All are great. Get a 128/256GB size and run the OS and your games from there. It will make a noticeable difference!

You'll also don't need such a powerful PSU for this build. 500W+ from a decent power supply is great.

I love MSI but I have not found one as good as the Sabertooth that also includes Intel Smart Response Technology which would allow me to use a small SSD as cache for the boot drive. I was looking at that MB and I was so torn especially seeing as they are hand tested... so many choices!!!!

I'll have a look around at the PSU, you could be right as for the case, I just love those cases. I was looking at the NZXT Phantom 820 but while really nice its just too fancy for me and not enough effort has been put into noise control. The Antec P280 is unbelievably quiet. I have been a build and its almost in audible. I have a P180 and a P183 and love them. Even if it is in your bedroom and its actively doing something you cant hear the PC. Its the one area I cant be talked to lol dont get me wrong, friends and peeps on forums have sent recommendations (hence me looking at the Phantom) but I always come back to the P280. It was just built for me it seems

Actually I know, but my original plan was to later upgrade to dual GFX so thats why... I think I will keep something around that power even if its not that one as I might want to get a second GFX card later

I'd just get an SSD to boot with and load programs from. A decent sized (128-256gb) SSD should be manageable for most budgets these days.

By the way, I was looking at the Noctua but could not find one listed that would be compatible with the 1155 socket. Any suggestions there?

The HX850 is a little too much for what you need. You aren't going to be drawing anywhere that even with 2 gpus. An overclocked 3570K and overclocked GTX670 build running at full load is going to be drawing under 400W. Add another GTX 670 and you looking at a theoretical maximum of around 600W. That's all on the 12V rail so you'll need something a bit more than that in reality because not all of the watts on a PSU is supplied at 12V. The better quality the PSU the more watts are at 12v.

Personally I'd get the TX650M if you can find one. It differs slightly from what you linked because it is semi-modular (that's what the M stands for). There are certain cables which you will always use and you have the option of plugging in more should you need them if you get a second card or extra components. It still supplies more than enough Watts on the 12v rail (648W to be precise) but you won't pay the premium of a fully modular PSU. If not that that website does sell the TX750M which is still a cheaper but no less effective option than a full modular HX or AX series.

Looks like a good list to me but I'd change your 670 for the OC Windforce version. Still a free overclock, 3rd party cooler with capacity to take it further and it's the same price = win.

Only the dual radiator solutions, such as the H100, are worth it. Whilst the temperatures from the H70 will be comparable to the best air coolers you will have to have the fans at 2000RPM which is very loud. I'd still suggest you go with the air cooler at that price range.

it's good balanced CPU is good for OC, Z77 is the right chipset. Grafics - cpu balance is good, just an additive ssd wouldbe usefull.

Yeah don't get the H70 cooler, an air cooler would be better, If you stick with the dark rock cooler i have the advanced in my pc and it is dead quiet so that would fit with your case being silent too
