New budget build

Right guys opinions on the following please for a new budget build I'm thinking of:

E8500

Asus P5K Premium WiFi

Novatech GeForce 9800 GTX+

Vista Home Premium 32-Bit

Creative X-FI Xtreme Gamer Soundcard

Seagate Barracuda 250GB SATA II 7200rpm 16Mb

Corsair TwinX 2GB Dominator 1066MHz

Nexus Real Silent 500Watt PSU

Antec Three Hundred Case

Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler

The build will cost £685

Is there anything I could change that would have a significant impact on performance for only a small amount of cash?

The only thing I intend to do is overclock the CPU to 4ghz...

an extra 2 gig of ram would make it handle that bit better in vista

other than that, i think thats a pretty good system

Right, I would change the P5K WiFi for the Asus P5Q Pro, as the P35 chipset is becoming old now, why not go for a newer one?

Also, wait a bit.. the AC Freezer Xtreme will be out very soon.. for only £10 it should be a lot better!

Another thing, the 4GB RAM.. you have to be in 64bit for that, and yes it would handle a lot better.

Also, I wouldn't get the 9800GTX, I would save up a bit.. and get the ATI HD4870! That will beat the 9800GTX in to the ground!

I might well just dump another 2gb of ram in there as the 9800gtx+ only has 512mb so I'd have roughly 3-3.5gb for the system to use... good call on the ram it's only an extra £35

I'm reluctant to go to 64bit windows so 32bit it is for me...

Nvidia vs Ati... well personally I don't like ATI, I'll stick the 9800GTX+ seems as far as I can tell to be the best for value vs performance ?!?

Good call on the P5Q Pro! I hadn't even considered it as I was looking at doing this build about 8 months ago with a Q6600 and P5k board...

A 'budget' build to me is something below the £400 mark. Oddly, it's easily achieveable.

- 8800GS/9600GSO (Slightly lower tuned 8800GT)

- Mid range dual core AMD such as the 4600x2

- Cheap mATX case such as the Cooler Master Elite 340

- 2GB DDR2 667/800

- Nice mATX motherboard, prefferably a 'newer' chipset such as the P35 (some of you may disagree, the P35 is progressively getting older)

And the rest, which shouldn't be too hard to pick out. This is bearing in mind that the user already owns a monitor.

For me this would be a budget build, its overclockable to 3.4 +

CPU. Intel Pentium Dual Core E5200 (2.5 Ghz Easily overclockable to 3.5)

CPU COOLER. Arctic Cooler Freezer 7 Pro (Ideal match for a dual core CPU)

MOBO. Gigabyte GA-EP31-DS3L (Good overclocking board I've got 1)

RAM. 2GB Corsair PC2-6400 4-4-4-12 (Good, cheap, overclockable)

GFX. Nvidia Geforce 9500 GT (My old 8500gt was goo enough for my 22")



CASE. Antec Three Hundred (Good airflow, cheap, no gimmicks)



PSU. 550w Corsair VX Series (Efficient, quite, stable, CHEAP)

There you have it cheap fast will last you more 2 years

(most of the warranty's of the items are more than 2 years anyway!)

You could change the gfx i suggested as your probably better off saving a little longer an buying a 9600gt, THIS ONE
