netgear dg 834gt

I don't have this router myself, but here are a couple of ideas;

Is the router still sync'd to the exchange?

Do you know if it is the router or the ISP dropping the connection?

Is it just the wireless dropping, ie can you still connect via a cable?

Can you connect to BT's test server?

The routers probably overheating, which is causing it to drop out. This is because Netgear use cheap psu which are often underrated, supplying too much power meaning it overheats. Their are various fixes, from repositioning the router to cutting a hole in it and sticking a fan on it.

have updated to the 30 beta version and so far so good.

Is it still working OK since the update?

My mate has the same router and is having similar connection issues so may recommend this update to see if it fixes the problem.

I had one of these routers and I had it replaced 3 times, but sent back at my expense, each one either died on me or kept dropping the connection. I ended up getting a refund and then getting it replaced for a dlink which I have had no problems with.

I have one of these routers and I have to say since upgrading to the latest firmware it has been pretty rock solid. Still not as good as my old Buffalo router though.

Just convinced a friend at work to take one of these back after reading this thread. He was having real trouble getting bittorent to work through it.

After reading this thread and the reviews on Ebuyer.com it's quite difficult to decide if I should buy it or not.

So many people happy and so many people disappointed by this router :eek:
