Netgear D6300 WIFI issues

Hey guys,

Looking for some advice. I'm currently having issues with the 5Ghz wifi network off of my D6300. I run both a 5Ghz and a 2.4Ghz network off of the same unit on a 100Mbit/40Mbit fibre connection. Both networks show close to the 40Mbit upload speed but, while the 2.4Ghz shows ~70Mbit on the down, the 5Ghz only shows ~10Mbit.

Any suggestions on what could be going on?

Your best bet would be to check for interference. There's an App called WiFi analyzer that'll show you all of the 5GHz signals in your phones vicinity.

Your issue may be down to overlapping channels or interference from other (non WiFi capable) devices. If WiFi analyzer shows overlapping channels, simply changing it to one that is free from interference may be enough.

Thanks Yassarikhan,

I've had a look and there aren't any other 5Ghz networks in range and the signal to noise ratio is no different to the 2.4Ghz network.

Just for curiosities sake, I did change the channel a few times to see if there was any improvement but, alas, nothing.

I'm not really wanting to have to replace it but it may be the only option.

Hi,

first check if your adapter can fully utilise 5GHz network ( check at what speeds its connected in Network adapter status). Also You are not mentioning it but try 2 different names for your 2.4 and 5G networks (e.g. add _5G at the end of 5 GHz network name) just to make sure you are troubleshooting the right network.
Next force network to work only on high speeds( disable any compability features and set it on 80 Mhz band as well as on N or AC mode ).

Remember that with 5 Ghz network your device needs to be closer that on 2.4 Ghz network because its doubling the frequency it slices the distance by half (or more).

Try that and see what you get
