Need major help!!!

Hi everyone,

I have resently encountered a major problem with my MSI Z87-GD65 Gaming motherboard, I was just updating drivers and my computer crashed then wouldn't boot so I checked the debug LED and its showing "36", so I turn off my system and then switch BIOS, I turn my system on again then the debug LED shows "36" then "F2" I have cleared both BIOS but nothing changes.

So I think that both my BIOS are corrupt, but I'm not sure.

Can anyone help?

CPU - Intel i5 4670K @3.4Ghz
Cooler - NZXT Havik 120
Motherboard - MSI Z87-GD65 Gaming
GPU - MSI GTX 780 Gaming
RAM - 8GB Corsair Dominator 1600Mhz DDR3
PSU - Corsair RM750
SSDs - 2 Kingston HyperX 3Ks 240GB & 120GB
Hard Drive - Seagate Barracuda 2TB
Sound Card - Creative SoundBlaster Core3D
 
Time to clear your bios cmos and load optimised defaults, and whatever other setting you applied. Hope this helps...
 
Can that MSI motherboard boot load a bios from a USB drive?

The early initialisation errors make me think of a possible power supply issue. If it were me, I would take the motherboard out of the case, place it on a non-conductive surface and connect the bare minimum - cpu and heatsink, ram and psu, with nothing else connected to the psu. Do you have a spare psu you could try?

Just throwing ideas out there.
 
I would try just plugging in the motherboard and turn it on via the power switch to see if it actually powers up any of the lights. Would tell you if the motherboard is working. Then plug the CPU power in and see what happens there.

And don't worry about the CPU not getting any power. It won't damage the CPU(i have done this).

Well I can't get into BIOS A or B so I'll try my other PSU.
 
You can boot from a bios file present on a USB drive, but you have to have it enabled in the bios before hand, as the default setting is disabled...

M-Flash funcion allows you to update BIOS from USB flash disk (FAT32/ NTFS format only), or allows the system to boot from the BIOS file inside USB flash disk (FAT/FAT32 format only).
BIOS Boot Function [Disabled]
Enables or disables the system to boot form USB flash disk with BIOS file.
[Enabled] Enables the system to boot from the BIOS within USB flash disk.
[Disabled] Enables the system to boot from the BIOS within ROM on motherboard.
*This may cause system unstable, MSI recommend it only for power users.
Select one file to boot
Selects a BIOS file in the USB flash disk (NTFS/ FAT 32 format) to boot the system.
This item will selectable when the “BIOS Boot function” is enabled.
Save BIOS to storage
Saves the current BIOS file to the USB flash disk. The USB flash disk drive should be
in FAT32 format.
Update BIOS
Selects a BIOS file in the USB flash disk (NTFS/ FAT 32 format) to update the BIOS.

Glad you got it working! What worked, the booting from USB?

Once you're in the BIOS you should be able to duplicate a good one over to the other BIOS, unless it's the chip that's knackered and not just corrupted.

yeah I put the latest BIOS on my external hard drive and it automatically booted from it and flashed which was awsome :lol:
 
Take out Cmos battery leave sit for 15min then short the cmos battery terminals for 5 secs (just to be sure). Then replace battery and boot. Everything should be back to factory default.
