Then get a lesser GPU.
Your money your choice, but know the CX power supplies are
cack.
I know because I own one. When I bought mine I didn't read reviews (how bloody stupid of me) and expected it to be like their Seasonic ones before, only they were cheaper. 80+ too ! wow !.
And then it all unfolded. Firstly the insides are utter garbage wrapped in a nice shell with a cack fan. Then it came out that they weren't really 80+ at all. Corsair errrr "made a mistake". How do you make a mistake and badge a PSU 80+ that clearly hasn't been to the 80+ labs. Naughty ! Loads of manus have been trying that over recent years.
Then I loaded a 8800 ultra onto it with a core 2 duo and it just kept rebooting. There is no way on earth an 8800u and core 2 in the most basic system ever should draw 430w.
It was cack. It wasn't something I would risk £200 worth of parts on. Now it runs a P4 media PC with onboard graphics, as simply that's all it is good for. Look around you. Every CX in a gaming system now is the 600w model, running the same hardware you want to. I would even go so far as to say that your system won't even be stable with a CX500 in there.
Only mugs skimp on a PSU. Go ahead and do it, then learn when it goes bang and takes all of your hardware with it.
What was in there? If you want to skimp on PSUs then hey, your call. Same goes for every one. When it goes bang and you lose all your hardware however then at least you'll know what happened.
The CX range was designed for low end desktops, not gaming PCs. Don't believe me? here.
I just went to Corsair and used their PSU finder. I put in a 2500k overclocked and a 560ti.
hmm ! how strange ! *NO* CX power supply listed there for that system !
Don't tell me right, you know better than Corsair?
Look. Call me an idiot, tell me I am wrong, call me whatever you like. I'm trying to help. Go ahead and use a cheap PSU instead of spending £60. Spend £35. Then, when that £35 PSU takes a crap and you lose £400 of hardware connected to the end of it come back and let me LOL at you.
£25 is not worth skimping on. If it was £200? fine ! run the gauntlett with a crap PSU. Cut.off.nose.spite.face.
Save for a couple of weeks longer, get the right PSU in your system.
Here man. This is very reasonably priced. 80+ Bronze and 53 amp rail.
