OKay my system is pretty good as I say, but i have the feeling something is bottlenecking my GFX card as some with lower end cards sometimes get higher FPS in game :(

here are my specs, please tell me what is wrong about it

Main : K9A2 Platinum

CPU : AMD 9500

GPU : Nvidia 260GTX

RAM: 4G DDR2 800mhz

HDD: 500BG Hitachi sata/ata (dunno lol, little red cable) and a 160 Hitachi on IDE

LaberFlash DVD writer

Samsung DVD player

thats about it. :)

cod4, am a competitive games so i go for 250fps min, but it won't stay steady, (FPS meter keeps saying 200-300 while it should be 250-XXXX) even with my config tweaked for max FPS

With no cap on FPS it goes to around 500 (avarage) but others with 8800GTX gets 700 wtf?

Well as I said, I am a competitive gamer, the higher the FPS the better (on the quake engine, cod engine comes close to it)

125 FPS = little higher jump, better hitregistration

250 FPS = Jump Higher, Even better HitReg.

333 FPS = Insane Jump Height, Reg same as 250

and higher than 333 makes the game (engine ) run smoother, thats why :)

And yes, you can feel difference between 125 and 250, game is a little laggy on 125 compared to 250

just me that thinks anything above ...80 fps is not noticable, infact give me 3 weeks once ive finished my eye module and ill tell you with references that you can't possibly see much more than that as a human

And I know that, am not stupid :/

But with cod4 thats different, even with 75hz screen you can see difference between 125 and 250 fps, you cant understand unless you did it yourself.

And am not the only one feeling/seeing this.

But this topic was for my PC lets keep it there :)

then your getting incosistent FPS/sticky screen lag, only waey i know how to discribe it, if the FPS was constant above that figure then you wouldnt be able to notice it...

What OS are you using? For me Vista 64 is worst for gaming than old xp 32 bit. Better fps i have on xp but dont play enymore on xp. For example my friend is using all the time xp 32bit and had better fps in crysis than me in vista 64 with the same settings and the same pc comfiguration. The thing is moust of the games like i play World of warcraft working on 32 bit mode and when you play on vista 64, vista doing for you emulation of 32 bit system then you are looseing already. My friend in wow on xp 32 and we checkt with vista 32 had more fps than me on xp 64 and vista 64. Its depend on what game are you play and what system are you using. Some games asking you on what system you instaling them. I think Race Driver Greed is for 32/64 bit instalation. Its big topic but remember the best fps performance you will have on xp or deam nice tuned vista. I tuned my 64 vista and dont have any problems in games. Before pathc come out for crysis for 64 bit platforms dx10 for me wos like slideshow. After that wos all ok. I thing the reason is OS. Test it out if can or read about it for example on google.com writing: "OS 32bit and 64bit in gaming" or something if no one will give you clear answer.

Are you using an LCD monitor?

Better hitreg.. yeah right.. you don't need any more than 60FPS in any kind of game.. or 75 because that is the most an LCD can display a second..

Ty Wgizmo, was really helpfull, I already tweaked my Vista 64 but I didn't knew 32 applications would suffer from this

And if I installed XP, I have 4G, would i need to have XP 64 bit then too?

and TheMadDutchDude

You make me kind of mad, you created anotehr maddutchdude :P

YBut u have no idea how the cod4 engine is working, the game is FPS based

I suggest you try googeling some com_maxfps and cl_maxpackets and see how FPS can improve hitreg on cod4 and more! :D

and yes your totally correct about the Hz, but am talking about smoothness.

Your problem my friend is PunkBuster, I'm also a competative gamer but from Quake engine (Enemy Territory) and PunkBuster is having a big drastic change to our FPS (only some are affected). I can get 125FPS no problem, but it will NEVER be steady, setting it to ms response the fps sometimes falls to 10fps and back up, COD4 wasn't different either.

I ran Enemy Territory without PB updates and no FPS lag whatsoever, PB updates and BAMM, FPS lag from 333FPS to 76 fps :(.

But tbh the fps isn't much difference between 125-200, 76-125 is a little noticeable difference, higher is useless.

125 gives higher jump, but you can do pmove_fixed 1 with Quake and it helps the jump.

46fps is also a good FPS to jump at.

PB is crap program and useless too, but ty

im terms of smoothness you could be right about 200+ fps but 250 makes your weapon fire faster too :P

(remind cod4 engine is not completely the quake engine)

PunkBuster is glitchy and was going to be closed down because ANYONE could give a person a BAN for something they didn't use. This can be done via IRC and by a server admin.

Since PB scans for memory strings and certain text strings, you can send some packets or even a message to a person on IRC with a string and instant kick for say #7001 MUTLIHACK although clean.

A whole team was kicked by PB because of hackers and banned.
