Hey all. I am building a new computer i already got the cpu which is a amd 64 3000 s939 all i am missing in the motherboard. The motherboard must have Sli. My budget is 125.00. Thank You.

id get the DFI lanparty sli-d board its 166 @ newegg h/e theres a refurbished @ newegg here.

if you dont wanna get a refurbished mobo, the asus a8n-sli is a good choice

or this.

their is 2 downsides with it.

their is a bug in the bios preventing overclock on certain cpu's, some winchester for example.

i have gone arund that problem by having clockgen autostart and set overclocking and then quit automaticly and works good.

the other downside is the chipset fan, from what i read its noisy and tends to fail quickly.

i cant say much about it as i removed it before i started up the motherboard.

you can check out my profile on what i havw with the motherboard but im overall satisfied with the board and the ability to go sli when and if i chose too.

Notice I already linked that Frag ;)

@Kemp, he says the board MUST have SLI. I know that you can mod the Ultra-D, but recent boards have some sort of epoxy, so it's not absolute.

depends on the person really, whether they're willing to "risk" it. But this is OC3D! If you're unwilling, you're out! (haha, jk :))

Almost all bad things about DFI are "user error"

I've been a member of DFI forums for some time and its only very infrequently an actual hardware problem.

DFI LANPARTY are High-End enthusiast boards to be used with High-End enthusiast parts and people who know what they're doing. Go take a look on DFI street support forums and you'll find hundreds of threads where people just haven't done the research.

If a DFI board DOES have a hardware issue - DFI are very quick to recognise and resolve it

i posted a refurb dfi-lanparty mobo sli-dr version @ 122 right at ur budget. heres the link again. never had an epox board but the asus board a8n that WC has is also nice and in ur price range. if you can id wait and save a lil more money.

be carefull with x1600 cards.

when i did research a while back i keept finding reviews saying they was slow.

from what i read on enduser comments it seems to be the opposite.

hear more comments on bad experience than good.

I can vouch for that.

Their quality control blows, everyone knows that. Yes, Kemp, I agree with you, part of it has to do with user error.

I would have to say MOST is user error, but DFI does have some serious quality control issues. They don't have an in between either, your board is either perfect or completely ****ed.

GR8 card mate... Those 6600's really tear it up, good choice for an inexpensive card. I'm using some 128 meggers in my dells and they run everything I can throw at em at high res (only running 17" crt's though).
