Need help with laptop hardrive!!!!!?!?!?!?!

Recently my laptop hardrive failed. It doesn't boot up or do anything. So i didn't want to spend more money on buying another laptop. So i decided to get either a cheap hardrive or ssd. But i can't decide over the two. Basically i want to know which is the better bang for the buck which is the better deal. I want fast program launch but i also want more storage plz help ?

you wont be able to manage on a 60gb ssd in your laptop... i lived with a 60 in my pc for ages... windows os uses 25-30gb you but then temp files and things fill up your SSD really quickly you have to disable system restore as this uses a lot of space... 120gb SSD minimum i would say but with it being a laptop i would want more storage than that tbh

Does the windows os include all os from windows or is it specified to windows 7 or vista or something
