NEED HELP! pc starts then shuts off.

Hey guys,

Just finished putting my pc together but all it does when I push the power button on both the case and mobo is turn on and then like half a second later it turns itself off. It then repeats the process by itself until I turn off the PSU.

System specs:

Corsair 850W

Intel 2600K

Noctua NH-D14

2x Zotac amp 580GTX (they should both run with the 850Watts, someone has the same system as I do and theirs runs fine.)

2x 1tb sata 6gb

Gigabyte UD5

I read somewhere that it could be related to the cpu fan control sensor. I had the noctua connected to the CPU_FAN on the mobo but that has 4 pins and the noctua cable only has 3. Could that be the issue?

PS: The mobo light comes on and when I push power, the PSU turns green and all of the fans start. It just turns itself off after half a second.

Have you tried reseting the CMOS?

I'm not sure if the noctua comes with coolant already applied but if you did this yourself are you sure you did it properly?

These are more unlikely but hey,

Have you tried fitting the stock fan with the 4pin fan?

Have you double checked all your power connects are connected properly and that you haven't used the PCI-E connectors on your motherboard by mistake? (This one is highly unlikely but I'm just trying to think of all I can off the top of my head for you)

Edit: Forgot one, are you using the correct ram slots? If your not sure then check your manual

A 3 pin will work in the 4 pin connector that should not cause you problems I have my D14 in the CPU fan connector.

Try removing any USB devices you have plugged in and try booting without them.

could be a number of things really.

I'd check and see if everything it seated properly in there slots first off and possibly try booting with only 1 graphics card and 1 stick of ram first off, then add others after. This might rule out any defective components.

Also another thing i mentioned in a previous post might help dissapate any static that has built up during build is this:

Turn psu off at the back of pc,then push your pc's on button, although the switch is off you will see the fans spin momentarily, which will release any charge in the motherboard,or components.

I have recentley had a very similar problem. It was happening with any memory module placed in either of the first two memory slots.

Please see my post in "HELP.... Big problems with Gigabyte P67A UD7" on this forum.
