Hi,

Can someone give me some tips and tricks about overclocking

My setup is:
Asus Maximus V Gene
Intel i7 3770K
Corsair XMS3 8 GB 1333mhz
GTX 550Ti
Thermaltake Water 2.0 Extreme

How do i attack overclocking my cpu? etc.

What's your target?
If you don't really want to know the ins and outs of overclocking to the detail, that guide is possibly too much.

I'd say set to 4.5, just on the multiplier, don't change the base clock.

Then set volts to around 1.180v, and put it up 0.01v/0.005v until it's stable.

There's a fair difference between pretty much every chip on IB. I can get mine stable at 4.5ghz at around 1.195-1.2v, whilst others I've seen needing 1.24v - So nobody can really be too specific about settings.

Pretty much every chip and board combo on Z77 can normally get to 4.5ghz easily. A lot of them can even manage 4.2/4.3ghz without even changing voltages, so maybe just have a play around with it. I'd say don't exceed around 1.26-1.3v, as temps start to rise a lot then, and you'll need to put way more volts through it just to get another 100mhz out of it - which isn't really worth it to me.

Good luck :)

1333 RAM is fair, but you should look to an upgrade after your overclocking
experience. then look to some GPU help. you got some thinking power and
going to up the game on it, but your video and RAM is really going to parse
the performance.
