Need help on OC'ing 1100t on Asus Crosshair IV Formula MoBo

another fan in a push/pull config may get a 3-5C drop in temps, i got 4C.

i also got another 3C drop by appling some IC Diamond thermal paste.

i believe, your cooler (H50) came with pre-applied paste on the base. it's not the best. but, this is only a picky thing.

you should only need to think about extra cooling methods if you hit 60C+ often

I hate to backtrack, but I've got a couple more questions....

So out of a little bit of fear, I backed the OC back down to about 3.8 GHz until I get some answers. 4.0GHz is fine and dandy, but what about longevity? I am a college student and while I love to overclock, I just don't have the money to keep replacing parts sooner than their expected lifespan. If I keep it at 4.0 will I have a decent longevity life? I'm running the Corsair H50 as well, and I use the program CoreTemp. However, when I load it up it can't read the core temperatures???

I don't get that. Will my H50 be ok to keep the core temps down at that OC?

And I'm still worried about OC'ing and CPU-Z still telling me that I'm still running on 1.35 voltage. If it was showing at the 1.40 voltage I set, I wouldn't be so worried....but how do I make my BIOS settings recognize the 1.40 voltage? I've manually set it under the CPU voltage, and the BIOS seems to show 1.401...but like I said...it still shows up as stock in Windows.

Please advise. Thanks.

The only way to keep the voltage spot on is to disable cpu load line calibration BUT doing so will almost certainly result in your system crashing within minutes as the juice just won't be flowing enough. That's the whole point of LLC, to cater for peaks aswell as mean demand. If PC Probe is reading 1.40 under prime and doesn't fluctuate much past 1.44 then the overclock should be able to last for years. It's only a frequent exceeding of the all important 1.45v that will degrade the CPU

Thanks. I fixed it just now so that the fan is now pushing the air into the rad. I also have a 240mm Fan on the top on my coolermaster HAF case blowing air out the top and out the front. So I think I'm good on ventilation.

Would it hurt to put on another fan like you have? How much lower are your temps with the additional fan?

I just sure wish I could actually read my core temps though! I have no idea what they are right now.

Oh, and now that I have my 4.0GHz overclock,m it'd probably be wise to run Prime95 I guess.

I ran my 1090 @4.4Ghz @1.51v but anything more demanding than firefox sends it to it's grave
