Need Help! Chipset clips came off again :(

Ok, I decided to install a Coolermaster Blue ice chipset cooler, but the weight of it managed to pull out one of the clips. So I just attached it to the other 2 clips, and again it pulled them out (yes i heard a *clunk* in my pc of the blue ice hitting my graphics card :( ). So i though, right sack this ill super glue the clips back on and just put my old Akasa Ak-210 chipset cooler back on, because its alot lighter. Well ive been hearing a little funny noise in my pc for about a week now, and i checked it out today and one of the clips had come off again and ive been gaming for a week with a half cooled chipset, not good. I dont have any holes on my motherboard (Abit IS7) so I cant install a different mounting chipset.

Has anyone got any ideas?

Please help me, LOG is comming up soon and I need to practice!

Thank you.

Okie dokie, ill have to get some and hope for the best. Stupid Blue Ice. If only I didn't install it in the 1st place *shakes his fist in anger*.

Other idea is to remove two mobo standoffs in nearby vacinity and run bolts to a holddown on ur cooler. Easier with waterblocks then air, but possible.

Bah, i cant clean the collabortory luquid pro off the blue ice, so its not going back on. Thinking about getting a new northbridge cooler to "glue" on. Read Kempez review on the Thermalright HR-05. Looks good and it slient. Is there a better northbridge cooler out there? Been looking and can't really find any.

So ur just gonna use thermal adhesive on the chipset and call her good permanently? That's a good fix if you never plan on taking the sucker off again or having to possibly RMA the board :D

I had no choice as my hoops kept comming off even after using super glue. The heatsink is now never comming off again. Ive poped it on now, I think I got a pretty acurate 1:1 ratio, and mixed it thoughly for about 2 mins with my magic wand :) . Ive now clamped it with the normal clamp, as the hoops should hold for the next 3 hours while it cures (super glued them to the mobo again). So by 5pm I should be back on my main system :D yey.

And I don't have warranty on this mobo anymore, so no need to worry about that, although I may upgrade when I get back from hol and have my student loan :)

Right im back on my good PC, its soo weird looking at 1280, instead of 1024. THe fans still on and it isnt making that funny noise anymore, temps seem fine, but I did just get the BSOD! i think it was due to running Prime95 as well as doing alot of other things. Well ill test it more tonight and hopefully it will be ok :)

Aren't these clips/hoops soldered on the underside of the board? If they are then rather then superglue can't you just resolder them? TBH when I had an IC7 years ago I read about the chipset cooler popping off so sucked the old solder of the loops and resoldered them all using a generous blog of fresh solder before installing the board.
