Hi, new member looking for advice. Just returning to gaming after 5 yrs and looking at my system it needs an upgrade and not sure what to do

System

Processor: Phenom II x 2 @ approx 3.2ghz
(cant remember exact frequency and doing this from my laptop)

Motherboard: MSI 870-C45 (AM3)

RAM: Corsair Value RAM DDR3 1333mhz
(running a bit faster than that but not sure how much)

Graphics: MSI GTX460 768mb
(again running a bit faster but not sure how much)

PSU: Corsair 650W 80+ Bronze

Case: ANTEK 300 with 3 intake and 2 exhaust fans

I have a 2nd generation 128gb SSD and 2TB WD Green so fine for storage for the time being.

I bought it on a budget and im on a budget now so keep that in mind

I know I need another 4gb of DDR3 but not sure what to do about the mainboard and cpu, im looking used for the graphics, possible cards atm include a 7870 and 6950, which would u go with?

My monitor is an acer 1080p monitor with 1 DVI and 1 VGA port so only need a card for 1080p for the time being.

Will be using it for gaming, maybe a little bit of rendering and general use.

Mainly shooters, was thinking about the pentium g3258 or maybe the fx6300 as some new games require at least 4 cores not cs tho, i mean battlefield and cod

For £200 I'd pick up a Phenom X4 955 Black Edition for about £50 and spend £150 on a HD7970 graphics card. That will give you pretty good 1080p performance without having to change your motherboard. Later on add another 4gb of memory, but for now let's get moar coars and moar GPU.
