Some time ago i bought a Asus PB278Q monitor and i have been playing games on it in 2560x1440 but a single 2 GB Asus GTX 680 CU II card is nowhere near powerfull enough to max out some games like Metro 2033 and Sleeping Dogs in 2560x1440

What i want to do is to sell my Asus GTX 680 CU II 2GB card and buy 2x 4GB cards.
But sould i go with 2x EVGA GTX 670´s or EVGA GTX 680´s?

And i dont want an AMD card i had a XFX 7950 DD card before my Asus GTX 680 i did not like the card the cooler or the drivers so no AMD cards for me thanks

Foor 2560 x 1440, in my opinion even 2GB should still be enough, the problem is just that the 680 doesn't have enough power, I say just buy another 2GB one and save the cash

I need to sell my Asus GTX 680 card no matter what as it takes up to much space as its triple slot

So if i have to sell it anyway i was thinking why not buy 2x EVGA GTX 680 FTW+ cards but then i was thinking if the 2x EVGA GTX 670 4 GB cards would be better

The Titan at this point is not an option and at 900$ US for a single card its way to much for me

I dont even have the money for both GTX 680 cards at once so the reason i am asking is i want 2 of the same cards but i dont have the money for both at once i will need 2 or 3 months more for the second GTX 680 but at this point i have not bought anything yet as i am not sure on what to do

And i have also heard that GTX 680 prices could drop when the Titan hits the market
Last i am more or less set on 2x EVGA GTX 680 FTW+ 4GB cards unless there is a good reason not to do that?

^Why is that? Not a fan boy I hope?

Nope its just that i had 2 broken HD 5970 which died within a year had a out of the box broken HD 6990 and my XFX 7950 DD gave me headaches with is turbojet fans and i had a ton of driver problems so i am just fed up with AMD.

I bought my first Geforce card in more then 4 years last year and that card was my Asus GTX 680 CU II and i have never had a single problem with it so far so no i am not a fan boy just a happy Nvidia user

Wow that's the first time Ive herd of any 680 not being able to handle 2560 x 1440 ??? you must have some sort of major bottle neck going on somewhere or some sort of bad install ? To many background programs running when gaming ? Are you sure your not just looking for an excuse to get rid of your 680 ?

No have you tried maxing out Sleeping Dogs or Metro 2033 both games runs like crap in 2560x1440 maxed out

I have overclocked my GTX 680 to 1200 MHz core and 6800 MHz memory and the games still runs like crap with everything maxed out in 2560x1440 and no i have a Core I7 3820 and 16 GB of 1866 MHz RAM so there is no bottleneck and there is no programs running in the backgrund either it simply the GTX 680 that is too weak to max out some games in 2560x1440

The GTX 680 was a great card untill i got my Asus PB278Q 1440P monitor after that a single GTX 680 is not enough for 1440P gaming

Well bugger me this is most strange indeedy, if you search the web you will find that even a single GTX 670 2gb handles 2560 x 1440 (bar skyrim with HD mods), but if your a fps hoar and demand 60+fps all the time then sli is the only option.

edit: never heard of sleeping dogs (sound action packed), title made me laugh.

I get average 25 FPS in Sleeping Dogs with a single GTX 680 in 2560x1440 with the game maxed out.

I need to drop everything to medium to be able to play it and at that point the game does not look as good i want both and the game eats VRAM like crazy it eats all 2 GB no problem even in 1920x1080

Far Cry 3 is another game i cant max out i need to set some things to mediumto be able to play in and Metro 2033 is the same thing i want everything maxed out and at 40+ FPS

Just Cause 2 Concrete Jungle test i only get 38 FPS in and that is with everything set as high it can go

What i am asking is GTX 670 4GB SLI or GTX 680 4GB SLI the way i sould go?

You can get the EVGA 680 Classified which has 4GB's. I have found that the card is very good, runs very cool even overcloked (58C-64C max). It will run anything at 2560X1440 very well I think. It does cost a lot but getting 2 will give you some very good performance. Although I think you should wait for the next generation cards as they are fairly close know.

Think i will go for 2x EVGA GTX 680 SC Signature 2 cards in SLI i can save a lot of money by going with those instead of 2x FTW+ in SLI
