Need a new mouse.

I got a Logitech G9x well I guess I would say I had a G9x but I was playing my new portal 2 and I got to Chapter 7 around the 6th part, Then BAM my mouse starts dropping in and out, A little messing around and turns out one the cables in the USB cored are snapped.

I did some research and turns out the G9x has solid core wires in it, Stupid idea. so yeah one is snapped and now I have a light paper weight, I might turn it into a fridge magnet.

Any way I did some searching and can't fine a USB cable to buy so now I am looking at a new mouse. Not the logitech G9x

I love the feel of the G9x, I am a claw grip person, I use DPI adjustment, the slow and fast scroll feature, I use both the back and forward buttons constantly (in game also as melee and frag shortcuts

) Cordless would be awesome but finding a awesome product that is also cordless I don't think will happen.

So any one got on any ideas on a good new mouse with out solid wires in the cable?

I wouldn't use anything other than Razer now. The current one I've got is the Lachesis and it covers all the things you mentioned. Very solid nice tactile feel 5600dpi and the icing on the cake is that you can change the colours of the scroll wheel and the glowing Razer icon on the mouse. So you can change your case and then change your mouse lights to match...

I was going to say the Steelseries XAI but i'm not sure if it would be a good mouse for the claw grip, ham fist FTW

The Razer Naga looks like it would be good though.

dont really like razer products... roccat mice are amazin'. q-pad is good aswell

I still use a Razer Deathadder

After trying so many mice, it's still the mouse I find the best

I tried using a MX-518 but can't get on with the shape

It all depends on personal preference, so prob best to try a few mice out.

Out of all the new mice, I like the look of the Steelseries Xai but have heard mixed reports with one guy going back to using a MS Intelli Explorer V3 instead of the Xai

Also the Deathadder Respawn mice have a braided USB cord so pretty unlikely to snap

I am currently using SteelSeries Xai, it has worked amazingly! I used Razer Diamondback 3G before it and can't complain about that either.

I'd honestly suggest either a Razer or Steelseries

Also, if you want to save money but still get amazing quality, get yourself a Steelseries Kinzu. Most used mouse by competitive gamers

I nearly bought a kinzu as it looks like a cheaper version of the xai but it has no side buttons

would be lost with no side buttons

Thought of a Sidewinder x8 i bought one for £45 its wireless DPI on the go Blue track the forward and back buttons are in the best place ever you have your thumb on both naturally so when playing move your thumb up or down to press which ever. Its got a tilt wheel and it can be used whilst being recharged by a magnetic recharge cable and the battery lasts me over 7 days and I use the pc a lot lol XD.

Never had any props with it connects all the time its 2.4Ghz never had to try to get it to reconnect. and the coolist thing XD it has a LCD display to tell you what DPI you are at or if you are recording Macros.

Thanks guys you put me onto deciding between a Microsoft SideWinder X8 and a Razer Mamba after I was told about the Razer Deathadder and found it in a wireless version then a quick google for a review found me hereat Toms review lol

the mamba is smaller so probably better for claw grip. i prefer the dpi adjust on the x8, one button per dpi setting whereas the mamba is incremental like a volume control

Why on earth would you want to change your DPI on the go anyway? I could only see that plausable if you have friends sharing the mouse.

Its for games take for example a first person shooter and your going around with a knife you want high dpi but then you switch to a sniper yo want a slow mouse to make fine adjustments.

I have a x8 and i have 2000, 1000, 500dpi as i use 2000 for everyday stuff and games and then 1000 for mid range sniping and 500 for very long distance.

Hm, I wouldn't pay extra for that small benefit in a selected few FPS.

It's starting to come standard on a lot of mice. When you have the dpi feature you find it very handy. For games. Photo editing. Few other things and also if others use your mouse.

What other games would benefit from this? A RTS, MMORPG, sandbox, racing, flight sim, wouldn't benefit from DPI changing on the move. And like I said earlier, TDM/arcade style FPS wouldn't benefit. I could understand having two seperate settings, maybe, if you do some precise micro with editing programs, but other then that I'd say it's a useless feature to be able to have so many different settings.

For example, you're playing BF and someone rushes you with your 500dpi setting. He would be running circles around you, or you'd find yourself dragging, which isn't an efficent way to use your mouse, especially in an FPS. I'd say get used to the one setting, so you can be ready for all situations, without having to click a button on your mouse, which pressed in hesitation could cause you to press the wrong setting and throw your DPI out.

I bought the Xai, but I've never once touched the DPI button, though I do have two different settings, as I originally played with 1000, and I spent a week learning how to play with 2000. I did originally try using the 1000 setting for sniping, like blair said, but I just couldn't play with it, it felt like the mouse wasn't responding correctly as I was so used to the other.
