Need a New Card..

Hello forum goers.

I'm wanting to purchase a new graphics card for my PC, but am a little unsure about what kind of card I need. I'd like a graphics card which is capeable of running the online game; Guild Wars to its fullest. I don't really want to spend too much money on this, could anyone give me some advice?

How much are you willing to spend?

At this very second a 7900GT or 7600GT depending on the cash.

But if i were you id wait and see about a 8600 or the R600 equivilent.

I knew someone who bought a new card for arround £80 which got the job done but I don't know what card it is. Maybe a GeForce 6600 or something...? I really don't know.

But if you know any cards for arround £80 that can do it?

Thanks guys that seems like a pretty good card, but now I have another question!

I don't know much about computers so I'd like to know about card compatability. I'm using PCI slots so aslong as the card is PCI should I have no problems?

Im afraid that they have stopped making fast GPUs for the PCI slot.

Are you sure that your graphics slot isn't AGP or PCI express?

If it isn't you may have a problem.

oh erm... its a fairly recent PC. Did I mean to type PCI-E?? (wasn't sure if there was a difference between them)

PCI is the one of the oldest card slots.

AGP was the last gen graphic slot.

And PCI-Express is the newest and fastest!

If you have a recent PC I bet you will have PCI express Gpu slots.

Keep in mid that PCI slots are still used for other cars like sound and TV.

trust me, dont try to fit in an AGP card into a PCI-e slot, it doesnt work

Try using Everest - that should tell you what kind of slot you have in there

Even the motherboard tab of CPU-Z will tell you. If you have a recent pre-built from 2006 you most likely have a PCI-E slot so a PCI-E 7600GT will be plenty fine.
