Navi Rumoured to Launch in June With High-End Models Coming Later

If it's coming this soon I don't think it'll be touching Radeon 7's space for now, the only architecture they have that's notably out of date at the moment is Polaris (It's technically been 3 years since AMD had a new low-mid end architecture), the easy guess would be a ~40CU and a ~20CU die again, with very loosely about 70% and 35% the performance of Radeon7 respectively, presumably closer to 50% and 25% of the price (RX680/660 with a cut down version of each below). Presumably the higher end models/VegaII replacements are closer to 12 months away.

Edit: To be honest I wouldn't be surprised if they skipped straight to 700 to keep up their shoving 7's in absolutely everywhere.

I've had the Fury X and V64 LC, but given the price of Radeon 7, I think I'm going to wait for high-end Navi.
A 2 year upgrade cycle may be a bit more sensible for me haha

Yeah, I don't think there's any point waiting for high-end Navi if you're the type who loves to upgrade or if you need more performance and you're on something like a 290X or a GTX 980. I would only consider waiting for an unconfirmed card if I was currently totally satisfied with what I had and would only upgrade if something extra special came along. Radeon VII is definitely not special to me so I'm not bothering with that.

'Yes Vega is EOL, AMD have now sold everything they built, unfortunately they have no replacement due on the £300-£500 bracket until the VEGA 56/64 Navi Performing parts due late Summer.

But that is why they informed us to stock up as much as possible on VEGA 56/64 as going forward for next six months or so there shall just be 570, 580, 590 and Vega 7, so any reseller who did not stock up on Vega won't have any thing from AMD to sell in the £300 - £500 region.

Though in fairness Vega 56 was never supposed to go sub £300, we just made it happen because Vega 56 at under £300 impacts 590 negatively and 590 is priced correctly as is 580, so Vega 56 needed lifting in price.'

So Navi replacing vega 56 and 64, as per rumours.
High end Navi is clearly at least a year away.

I'm a little confused, Vega 7 is competing with the 2080 which puts it a decent chunk faster than Vega 64 but by the sounds of it Navi will be replacing Vega 7 with roughly the same performance bracket.

I think this is 1 reason why people end up buying Nvidia, AMD confusing people ^_^

If Navi is the expected 40/36CU size in its largest form on launch, expect it to perform around 70% as fast as R7 at most in existing games, or around Vega56-64/RTX2070 levels at 1440p. Another 4 or so CUs binned off to create an RX70 model would bring it to RTX2060 levels as they're quite close together.

I'd put money on the use of 8GB 16Gbits/pin GDDR6 to get exactly half of R7's bandwidth or exactly double Polaris' or slightly more than Vega's too, maybe 14 if it's not ready yet but usually that would be for the 70 tier.

No, the first series are replacing vega 56 and 64, which are now EOL.
The lower end Navis will presumably be replacing the 590, 580 etc at some point (or at the same point).
I'd assume cheaper then vega 56/64 because they won't be using hbm2.
I'd assume higher price/performance points (which is probably why nvidia are releasing the 1660, 11 series, after the debacle of the RTX pricing - a bit better performance for a bit more money - wow)

But the first Navis will not be replacing the Vega 7 - that will presumably be the next gen of them.

Personally, I went for a vega 64 because I'm hacked off with Nvidia (former nvidia fanboy). I know I'm not alone.
Plus playing with undervolting it will be fun.
