My XFX HD5770

Hello all,

Really needing some advice on my 5770, I am having weird issues whilst gaming and watching movies.

Recently I have been noticing blank screens occuring while playing MW2 & WoW and watching movies, the sound is still there but screen is blank and monitor's power button just blinks on and off as if it were in standby mode.

I've also noticed flickering whilst surfing net but this only seems to happen when I have my second monitor on.

Been doing a bit of digging but nobody seems to have the right answer, reading something about VPU and other different things like making a profile and changing settings and even flashing the bios (which seems like a gamble?), this sort of stuff I have no clue about at all. I've had this card a month and started out on the ATI 10.9 drivers and upgraded to 10.10 and now back on 10.9 as the latter was worse :^/

Not really sure what to do, any help will be much appreciated

Im not saying this to be an arse but have you checked all your cables both externally and internally dude?

Hey TTL,

Thanks for rapid reply, yes mate all cables are secure, seems a lot of peeps having these weird little issues with the 5770 but can't find a fix it's strange, peeps report having high temps with theirs but my card never reaches above 65c with fan running @ 50% i don't game on high settings really as prefer the fps just 1680x1050 no AA low AF or no AF

Just two monitors a 22" and a 15"

I haven't contacted the vendor or XFX yet just still looking around.

Even though these 10.9 drivers seem better for me then the newer 10.10 (less flicking and blank screen) i might revert back to older drivers and see what happends.

I've only 1 gfx slot on my mobo but have tried re-seating the card and swapping over different pci-e connectors but same drama.

Bit of a silly one but is the risk percentage higher when flashing video card bios then a motherboards bios? I know It's only a cheap card tbh but will tide me over till my upgrade after xmas, don't really wanna mash it up is all.

cheers

Thats why dude its the second screen. ATI's do have this problem a lot. I bet if you watch YouTube its really bad?

The only way around it is to alter the GPU bios and edit the idle clock and memory speed

I have a similar problem with my Sapphire 5750 when I launch a game I would get no signal, do you get no signal when launching a game or it would it suddenly go black when playing a game? If you have it when launching a game go into steam go on the properties of what ever game you want to play and go to launch option. set the resolution to -w 800 -h 600 then launch the game then set the resolution to your screen. this is how I sorted my problem out but yours might be a complete different problem.

Thanks for info chaps,

@ TTL cheers mate you've been very helpful, I've gone a head and taken the 15" away so we'll see what happends, I can live without a 2nd monitor for while

@ SLIEuro Hello mate, no I just had the blank screens whilst in game and flickering in movies and surfing net. Really strange. Did you flash your card Bios or do the Memory trick?

Shame ATI hasn't addressed this issue yet, Looking forward to the higher end 6XXX coming soon, will look out for your videos TTL
