Hello.. i was wondering if anyopne had any experiance with these boards as today, after receiving my new ram it has just randomly shut down and refuses to boot. I had my new ram installed all morning running stable in all apps i threw at it, however when installing the latest FEAR update the rig died and will now not boot. The fans spin when i turn on the power button but i get a beeeeeeep... pause .... beeeeeeeep etc... reseting the CMOS hasnt helped even slightly and i fear the worst. Its not ram as i have changed that and the problem still occurs.

Might be CPU, Mobo or even graphics :|

can you test the other components in a different rig mate?

Also - use a PCI-E adaptor to feed the X1800 from 2 molex's and see if that helps - with all the rawcus going on right now, I'd to think that ur 680w unit could not cope, but looking around....... it's possible.

Im using the 2 molex pass through also tryed the ocz in my bros rig and i thought id killed two rigs ... Im without a pc now so im pretty pi**ed.. ive been gettin a lot of bad luck recently

Dude - RMA the board and let them test it.

Note in your RMA request that you have tried several of combinations of the other components on an other board (and that they all work fine) when u apply.

I am of course assuming that all other components (CPU, RAM and Graphics) work in another machine, if not then RMA the other offending items.

Not good news I know mate - but you are well covered by warranty an all of these units, might as well use it.

Ok m8, ill tell my dad we need to send the board back. How long does an RMA usually take? I cant live without my PC!

Also thanks overclocker, im presuming you never experianced any of the above problems when you had the OCZ? It was fine all morning and then it happened...

Nope mate, I never experiance ANY problems, Only reason i sold this ram is because of me having 2gb now and like i said, I tested it for a day before sending it out @ 250 2.2.2.5 3.35v and its was working perfectly. I would NEVER sell faulty products to anyone.

To me, sounds like your Mobo is gone.

Fatty was explaining how high vdimm and low vcore.. 3.4 and 1.4 respectivly can cause damage to CPUs, looks like it killed mine so we need to send it back for RMA.. any tips ? Because ive never RMAed anything before..

Also, looks like ill be sticking to 3.2vdimm next time with vcore at 1.45+ ...

So you are now sure the CPU is a gonna?

Depends where the CPU was purchased from mate - most returns procedures and forms are all online now - painless really, although can take up to 6 weeks for a replacement (maybe AMD do RMA directly to save time?).

Fatty was referrring to DFI boards (I think) but thats not to say that others using similar layouts/components wont present the same issues.

its not DFI specific anymore- any board offering 3.3V+ DIMM can knacker a CPU or board due to an imbalance to the voltage being delivered.

@James: can ya not try the X2 in your Bros rig, or have ya tried that? :(

K

already tryed.. and tryed my winnie in mine and it booted fine... all good i guess as long as they appcept the rma.. i dont see why they wouldnt as it has no signs of physical damage

This is a bit weird because i was running that ram before in my rig with cpu being at stock volts and pumping 3.5v through the ram and it ran fine for all this time and my cpu is REV.E aswell as is James :S

 potentially not wise. AMD issued memos, notably to OCZ who passed the word on to the masses. Its a real issue, not just theory.

Better safe than sorry- up the volts, and up the clock speed to compensate!

got the RMA back.. ****ing dead again.. all stock settings, never happened with the old mem.. this ocz is doing something

This happened to me the other day. Tested components one by one. Turned out one of my Ballistix sticks == DEAD. Currently off on RMA.

One still worked fine, one just caused power up and BEEEEEP, BEEEEEEEP; most odd.
