Hi Guys,

Just a pre-warning, there's 8 photos I've put in this thread

So i just joined the forums recently, saw this thread, and so i thought i would post my rig pics etc here.

The story behind my rig is late last year I ahd been talking to a friend about how cool it would be for me to have my own PC and get all the steam sales .
My friend helped me pick out the parts as I didnt really know what was gonna be decent for a first build at the time

I built this on/around my birthday in October last year

Here are the specs:

Gigabyte 78lmt-s2p mobo
AMD FX-6300 CPU @ stock speed, 3.5GHz and turbos to 4GHz I believe
2*4GB @1333Mhz DDR3 ram
Window 7 Home Prem 64 bit SP1
EVGA GTX 660 SC
1TB black drive as OS
2TB green drive as storage
Coolermaster K280 case
Coolermaster Storm Quickfire Pro w/Cherry MX Reds
Coolermaster Silent Pro Gold 550W PSU
Logitech G500S mouse
Steelseries Siberia Elite V2's
TP-Link WN751ND wireless adapter
Dual Samsung 24 inch 1080p monitors
Logitech G27
Sony Stereo as speakers

I currently have the stock cooler on the CPU, as i didnt know if i was going to get into overclocking, but so far it has served me well.
upgrades i did along the way were adding 2 120mm fans, one as a side intake and the other as exhaust, in addition to the stock intake 120mm on the front.

Edit: Ive uploaded the 8 pics i want to use to imgur, and resized them(i think), and then added the BBCode links to the thread but it wont let me.

I get the error "Please do not use remote images, upload them instead"

It seems a little silly and a bit of a hassel to do this

You are having problems with images because you are new to the forum, I believe. Its a security measure, if I remember correctly. After a few more posts, it should work.

so i think i've figured out the image thing, so here goes.

questions, comments etc????

Edited them into the OP for you :)

Could do with a bit of cable management, but all in all not a bad effort for a first try.

Edit;
In the future, please don't double post (when you post twice in a row without another person replying), but use the
edit.gif
button in the bottom right corner of your most recent post instead :)
I've merged your posts for you this time.

thanks, I think if i had a modular/semi modular PSU then i could do better.

The last two pics are as good as i can get it for now

Re: Edit.
yeah, I'll keep that in mind for future posting

Just got a bit confusing there, just got home from work and rushed it lol

Thanks for merging the posts

Good first build. I had difficulties with my first one regarding cables. Once you get your head around it though it makes perfect sense.

Believe me, once you start with these things you can't help but keep tinkering!

Have fun.

Your cable managment is actually alright, but its those ugly cable that look bad. Nothing you can do about that, but buy new ones :D

I had one of the CM K360s they are a real PITA to cable manage, and don't even get me started on installing a AIO cooler they simply don't fit  mine always fouled the GPU back plate. I do agree with the others though you should look at an alternative to the stock cooler maybe the CM 212 Evo.. all in all it's a good build.

Thanks for the kind words, A year ago i wouldnt have really cared too much about cable management, but what i've learnt since can only make the next builds i do much easier(?) and fun
I though it would be a quick 20 minute job, but i ended up spending about 90 minutes or so tinkering with how tidy i could get it :D

I think a modular PSU would've helped with the GPU power cables a whole lot

The blue SATA cables were horrible, and i happened to have a couple spare black ones that make it look slightly better

I could install a 120mm AIO on the exhaust if I can find a decent/cheap one

I will look into the CM 212 Evo, seems to be the best/cheapest to good performance air cooler. I always hear it mentioned alot

You can install a Seidon 120m as they were slim radiators with a narrow end tank, but the H80s don't fit as they have a fat ass

Ps Don't buy a Seidon, it will only let you down.

I actually considered for quite a while on getting the seidon 120 as it was the cheapest 120mm AIO we have here, but i've just found the H55 for the same price, so a better option???

The CM 212 EVO is about $30 cheaper than the H55
Unless you like a loud PC, because it sounds like "engine sounds" :D

That bad huh??
Still rocking mine. Quite a few people I know never have had issues with theirs as well. You can do better for the money though.

I assume the H55 would be a better option??, same price as the Seidon 120

The H55 is new, the main issue with the Seidon is that they don't make them any more, so if anything goes wrong you'll have to either get your money back or fight for a replacement. Plus IMHO Corsair have top notch customer service.

tbh, i've seen/heard some not so good things about the seidon 120

corsair i would trust more with an AIO, since i have an H100 im gonna use in another build in the future

I love the smell of new builds in the morning!! Looks good :) very clean and nice and tidy. Bet it won't be long before you swap that stock cooler out for something a little more manly though ;) Nice build, good work :)
