My first build ever, need a lot of advice and help :)

Hey there guys!

First of all, I would like to ask you guys one question before I actually start answering the most common questions for this kind of thread. After I have this question answered I'll just edit this post with the rest of the information, if that's ok if that's ok with you guys?

So, here goes: what budget do you guys think would be good for me to aim for if I wanted a full gaming computer with all the essential components + monitor + OS and be able to run the most intensive games right now like Battlefield 4 on Ultra at a 1080p resolution?
I know this question sounds really dumb I'm sorry, it's just that I have been saving up money for over a year now and only have 555€ which is basically 458£ (I'm changing it to pounds because if I buy the parts from the UK rather than the US, I most likely won't need to pay for the parts to go through customs and all that kind of irritating stuff - I live in Portugal by the way).

Again, I know I'm probably asking for a lot, I bet this money isn't even near to the minimum I need to buy the kind of computer I want but I'm only asking this now because:

1: I'm honestly tired of waiting and saving up without even having a goal (this means that if by any way it was possible for me to buy a computer, I'd love if it could be ASAP);
2: I think I might be able to stretch the money I have saved to about 578£ (and this is probably only if I BEG my parents to lend me some money now and pay them back on Christmas);
3: Christmas is coming up so I might be able to get some more money then if you guys think that that's what I should do - wait for some more money (I probably sound like a kid but I really have no money income other than that from gifts on the holiday seasons, I'm still 17 years old).

Anyway guys, I hope you can help me out although I'm sure it is no easy task, but at least try to be straight forward and/or at least answer me because I have been asking for help over at reddit in 4 posts already and no one has even answered me. I mean, if I am doing anything wrong at least tell me what so I can change it

I think it's great that you are getting into PC building! In general, the price to performance "sweet-spot" is considered to be between 600 and 800 pounds. That is where you can get great parts for the best price. You would definitely manage to do some good gaming at 500 pounds, but perhaps not the kind of performance you are looking for. I would recommend checking out the recommended specifications of Battlefield 4. One you have found that, make sure that you meet or exceed all of the standards, and you should be just fine. I wish you luck with your build!

Thank you for the quick answer, I've just gone through the recommended specifications for Battlefield 4 and went to pcpartpicker and tried to choose some components while trying to stay within the specifications needed. Note that these parts were mostly random, I was looking more at the reviews, the price and the specifications from Battlefield when choosing them so most of them I don't exactly find "attractive", something I'd be interested in buying. This is basically just a test. If you guys think this "kind of build" if suitable for what I'm looking for, I'll start editing the first post and asking those standard questions you guys have for situations like this. When it comes to the AMD CPU's I have next to no knowledge, but you have chosen a quad-core and 3.6 GHz, which should be great. I would change the AsRock motherboard to a different brand, such as ASUS, MSI, Gigabyte, etc... The reason being that AsRock tend to make motherboards on the cheap side and lack the quality of, for example, ASUS motherboards. Though if you simply do not have the money it should be fine. Many people have indeed have had positive experience with them. I like your choice of Corsair Vengeance Ram. It is great quality and you will not regret the buy. As for the Kingston SSD, I would go with a Samsung one instead. Samsung SSD's are generally regarded as some of the fastest SSD's and are around the same price as your Kingston option. I hope you are aware that the Caviar Green HDD is not as fast as a Caviar Black (just saying, you probably already know this). Nice choice on the GPU and PSU as well. Lastly, the ASUS monitor is the icing on the cake (I'm a bit of an ASUS fanboy.) Let me know what you want do change or keep the same. There are a lot of experienced people on these forums to help you out.

Well, thanks again for the quick response but I just realized something, although on pcpartpicker I had to save up about 700€ which is rather reasonable, I forgot that those parts cost more on the UK websites so I headed over to uk.pcpartpicker and chose the same components. Needless to say my poor laptop is going to have to suit my needs for at least another half year (the build came down to 1000€).
Well, now I feel rather sad Thank you for your help but I guess I won't be needing it anymore, for a while at least.

Don't worry about it. Its a good idea not to buy a bad pc, but to save up some money. I am also stuck with a laptop currently. Although it's actually quite good for gaming, a desktop PC is always the dream. No problem for the help, and I hope that you find what you want some time soon.

Hey, sorry for not answering earlier, I have been a bit busy with my studies.
I know Linus and I have followed his videos for a while now but I actually hadn't seen this video yet so thank you :3. However, between the 3 builds he talks about in the video, the one that I'd be more interested would be the second one for about 1000$ and that is not something I can pay for right now since I'd have to order the parts from England to reduce custom duties and other fees (I think I'd have to pay 30% of the price of each part :s). So basically what I'm trying to say is: I have nothing to do but wait and save up more money
Despite all this, I think I'm gonna show up in another part of the forum and I'm gonna ask you guys some help with something, you know, just to "pass the time" while I don't have enough money for an actual computer xD
