Hey Guys, I'm new to this forum, came across this room, ending up looking at a lot of great setups by you guys, so I wanted to share my rookie setup skills. ^_^

do.php

So this is my setup, I have one main 27 inch monitor, and I use my old 26 inch lcd TV as a second monitor, The PC case it self is on the floor next to the desk as you can see, and I have my Printer(also a scanner) on top of the PC case, all the wires from the PC case to the Monitors and other device are combined together in that one big wire you see coming from the PC case up to the desk.

Side Note: I also have a third screen, which is a LCD Full-HD TV, also connected to the PC, it's in the living room and is connected via a long HDMI cable to the TV that runs from the PC, hidden along the wall to my living room area, where I play most game on the Big LCD TV, using my wireless Xbox 360 controller playing from my couch, and also for wathing Hi-def movies streaming from my PC, and since the HDMI cable can stream both visual and audio it's only one line to the living room for both the Big LCD and sound system. Also I use "XBMC" combined with Steam "Big Picture" for the living room HD TV, so it's very useful since I use this PC for both my Desk work and Entertainment Center to my living room. (When I'm on my couch in my living room it feels just like a Gaming console, eventhough the PC is in the other room) ^_^

Back to the Picture, I also have 2 external 2 TB haddrives conected via USB 3.0 to my PC, in the picture they would be next to my main monitor to the left on top of the sub-woofer.

I use a cougar PC case which also have dust filters in them so most of the time I can just simply just take out the dust filters and clean them then put them back in. ^_^

lastly my PC specs are roughly as follow; Intel® Core™ i7-4770 Processor (8M Cache, up to 3.90 GHz) / Ram 8GB ddr3 1600 Mhz / GTX 660 Ti 2 GB GDDR5 / SSD-Drive 120 GB / 2x500 GB Harddrives + 2x2TB External Harddrives USB 3.0 / AsRock motherboard.

So that's about it guys, just wanted to share, thanks for reading and let me know what you think, PEACE.

Thanks for viewing. :)

PS.The PC setup space as a whole probably looks a bit smaller in the pics because I have a very large chair so it makes the setup seem smaller, the main huge monitor itself is already 27'inch.

PS.2 Sorry for the wall of text, I just graduated from college this year and finally have my own place living with my girlfriend now, so I'm a bit proud about this setup, since it's mine. :p

Looks tidy but does your PC not have vents in the roof?

Thanks, that was the point of the setup not to take much space, but still provide a comfortable and enjoyable area to spent time on with a lot of real estate space. It's actually a lot bigger than in looks in the picture, the PC setup space as a whole probably looks a bit smaller in the pics because I have a very large chair so it makes the setup seem smaller, the main huge monitor itself is already 27'inch.

About the vents, It does, but the printer does not effect it because the printer legs are pretty high, it creates a few inches of gap between the printer and the vent, and also the two fan vent in the roof vent are blowing air out not sucking air in, for the other vent with fans in my PC, I have 1 fan in the front, 2 fans at the bottom of the case, and 2 fans on the back of the case, so it's really keeping things cool. never had a problem. :D

I quite like this setup. Lots of stuff packed in a small space :) The idea of hooking up your TV and gaming in the living room is pretty great if I'm honest, I could see myself play GTA like that. Might have to try it out, thanks!

Is that a 1440p monitor and do you game on two monitors?

About that printer, have you thought about buying a small but high table? Could out your PC under it and the printer on top. Or the printer under and the PC on top although I can imagine that would be less convenient.

Would still not allow for much ventilation but at least it looks a bit cleaner than just stacking it on top of your case :)

Hey Feronix,

Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it alot :)

My main 27'inch monitor is Full-HD 1920x1080p, would have been nicer to get a 1440p though since it has a large screen, I always like large screen monitors, but I had to keep it under the buget that's why I got a 1080p version, for me 27'inch is just the right size for the viewing distance where I'm sitting. For any one interested in what model my main monitor is, you can see the details at this link http://www.aocmonitorap.com/root/hk_en/product_display.php?id=359, been using it for 3 months so far, and I think it's a great monitor.

For gaming, most of the time I will be gaming from my couch with a wireless Xbox 360 controller in my living room, with my 42'inch HD-TV connected to my PC setup you see in the picture which is located in the room where my PC setup is via a long HDMI cable hidden trough the wall, using "XMBC"+"Steam Big Picture" gave me the ultimate Entertainment center experience, this way it saves me money for having to buy a next-gen console for my living room, since this way I literary already have my own custom console with nice true Full-HD graphics for my living room.

Your advise about the printer setup is a really a good idea, I will see if I can find a tall narrow table that fit's over my PC where then I can put my printer on top of it.

Thanks again for the great feedback

I actually quite like the design of that monitor, though it does look a bit like an AIO. Shame it's only 1080p :(

Have you given SteamOS given a go yet then?

I've been following steamOS for a while but I don't feel that it suites me yet.

When I'm using "XBMC" Media Center software in my living room, I have a plugin installed that allows me to launch "Steam Big Picture" directly within the media center, and then can access and play all games in my library, from what I've seen, steamOS interface and functions are very much identical to the "Steam Big picture mode", but steamOS still lacks good compatibility and media support. So with my current setup method (XBMC+Steam Big Picture) it's already literary like I have a game console in my living room with full media center features integrated.

I'm ok with the setup I have now, when I exit steam Big picture Mode in my living room it automatically returns to XMBC, so it's a very nice eco system I already have. I'm saying all this because stamOS currently only supports linux compatible games, which than means if I use steamOS I won't be able to play 80% of the games in my library, so this is still the downside of steamOS for me.

So currently for my living room, XBMC+Steam Big picture Mode integrated together seamlessly, is working great for me still, running both on a windows based machine offers full compatibility with games and media, but in the future if steamOS can improve it's downsides and can perform more of the same features as my current set up now, I might consider trying it. :)

That's fair enough. SteamOS is still in its baby shoes anyway so I don't expect too much from it until 2014, maybe a few months in.

I think I'm going to give this a try, just need to find a place where they sell xbox receivers for the PC. Clever thinking! :)

why not just bolt a shelf onto the side of your desk and put the printer on that??

also, i hope ya psu is turned ttl style so not to be starved with that carpet under ya rig.

The floor under the rig is actually a hard floor, but I guess in the picture it looks like a brown carpet.

The desk idea for the printer is somthing I'm still looking in to, it's hard to find the right desk with the right size. :)

This looks nice, is it possible to get some pics of the guts of that rig? :)

Sure thing, I actually still have some photo's saved from a few months ago that I took, just after when I finished building the rig. Sorry if they are not perfect but these are the one I have at hand, and sure is a lot more convenient than unplugging my setup and open the PC case just to take some pictures again, so I'll just post here what I have at hand. :)
