My beautiful custom PC (or at least I think so)

So, I'm fairly new to this community but have been reading the forums and watching the reviews available for about 2 weeks. This was all in the hope of finding out what parts I want to use to build my new custom PC. My limit is AU$2700 so I can get some nice gear, my main concerns are: bottle-necking in hardware, noise and cooling.

Noctua NH-D14 Cooler

Asus MAXIMUS IV EXTREME Z68 Mobo

2 x 4GB Ripjaws 1600Mhz CL7

WD CaviarGreen SATA III

Gigabyte GTX580 Super Overclock

CoolerMaster 932 HAF Advanced Case

And cheap DVD-RW, keyboard and mouse.

EDIT: OCZ Agility 3 120GB SATA III SSD

Decided to make it more for gaming:

One thing I see right off the bat, with a decent budget like that you should be rocking a SATA III SSD for your OS and apps that you want to rip, and then ditch the Green and step up to a Black for storage, larger games, etc.

That's just my humble opinion.

Can't believe I forgot the SSD. Definitely going to have one, currently looking at the OCZ Agility 3 - 120GB, will definitely have a look at the Black, thanks for the advice!

Should be posted in build suggestions. But yes that all looks good, I also agree with the sata 3 ssd, and if its just for gaming and nothing else. GET A 2500K. 100 dollars saved or put towards something else. 2500k does the same exact fps in games and performs the exact same as a 2600k

Ahh damn, was hoping I put this in the right place, unlucky I guess. Thanks for letting me know

. And yeah I was thinking about doing the 2500K but I will be doing quite a bit of 3D rendering in Maya and simulations in Fluent which requires quite a bit of number crunching so I do think the 2600K will win over in that respect.

btw mate if'n ya post in wrong spot dont repost it, pm a mod they will happily move it for ya when they have the chance.

but looks good to my eyes so far

Everything you've chosen will do but you may be able to save some money on the CPU, what will be your main uses for this PC?

Gaming, Maya scene rendering and running simulations in Ansys Fluent. 2600K or 2500K were my choices and I figured that I'd go 2600K seeing as I have the money there.

If you want it fast and smooth,i would choose gskill ripjawsX 2133mhz 2x4gb rams.A little more expensive, but 6-8% faster system overall.

Gskill 2133mhz

EDIT:For such a highend build,i would get a corsair ax850 psu.

Sorry for the double post, really not familiar with normal procedures around here! Thanks for the advice again, the G.Skill are apparently having compatibility issues (all the info I could get from the store I'm purchasing from) and the Kingston HyperX 1600Mhz was suggested as a replacement. Will this be decent enough or should I stick with the G.Skill and jump up to 2133?

Had a look at the corsair 850 and decided it would definitely be worth using over the Antec. Thanks!

Do they have an X series for the Ripjaws in the speed you are looking at? They are designed for compatibility with the new Intel / AMD stuff.

Yeah it's the X series specifically for sandy bridge that he thinks will have issues. It's the first I've heard of it but I don't see why he'd be misleading, the ripjaws are more expensive. What do you think?

I am running Ripjaw X with an i72600 and it is performing flawlessly. Not to mention the blue on the memory matches the blue on my ASUS mb so nicely.

Revised build, only using this one for gaming now, gunna keep my old PC for simulations.

New build:

Just got my PC in the post today!

I'm in love to say the least. OCed to 4.8 stable no worries at all. Only problem is I bought the HAF 932 Advanced case for the 2 USB 3.0 slots on the front but because I bought the Sniper 2 board (includes the front panel with 2 USB 3.0's, eSATA and quick boost), I didn't have another USB 3.0 port on the MoBo to plug into so I ended up ripping that standard case USB panel out altogether. Makes the look a little more consistent with the bevels but yeah, pretty devastated I only have 2 and not 4 USB 3.0's at the front. Other than that....AMAZING!

P.S. Should have went CL9 ripjaws 2133 and not the CL11. Oh well!

EDIT: Cable management is so hard! I now have an immense respect for all you guys that manage to get it spotless like some of the rigs in the Rig Gallery.
