Keep trying some of the fixes on Google, you may still find a fix.

I wouldn't worry about being two generations behind though, there is a very little performance increase and apart from benchmark scores you wouldn't notice it. The only thing the Haswell refresh brings is better overclocking due to better TIM and thermals on the CPU.

I'm still on a 2500K, i'm not upgrading till Intel release CPUs worth upgrading to.:)

Update i ran prime95 for about 90 mins and there was no BSOD i have uploaded a screenshot so you can have a look so next step is to run Unigine.

Definitely not your CPU then :) Fingers crossed for your GPU.

I ran Unigine for about 60 to 90 mins and no BSOD, but maybe i should have told you this to begin with the BSOD only seem to happen from a cold boot like once the computer has been off for like 6 to 8 hours, would you like for me to take a screenshot so you can see what programs i have installed

I don't think it would be a program causing it because it would still crash if it was running after a restart. What PSU do you have? could be a problem with your PSU.

When it 1st started i had a Corsair AX860i and that died got a replacement but i'm now using a Corsair RM650 still doing the same sort of BSOD

Not your PSU either then, strange that your BSOD only happens on a cold boot though. I don't have any other ideas on what might be causing it, I suppose the only thing left is to try replacing your motherboard.

Or see if you can find any info about causes of cold boot BSODs and see if you can find a possible fix.

Ok its not as in as soon as i boot up its happens after about 5 to 10 mins once i log into windows, i phone the computer shop up today and they said this time it might be the whole windows installer dvd they told me is to install windows from a different dvd disc and use the same product keycode, i have just been doing some google searches for "cold boot bsod" seems like those peoples problems was ram, the ram i'm using is G.Skill Ares F3-1866C9D-8GAB 8GB

Update i think TTL has said in some of videos that he doesn't use the XMP profiles he sets his up manualy but i could be wrong, i did some check in my UFEI i did have the XMP profile enable cause i wanted the RAM to read at 1866 but now it reads at 1600 so i disable the XMP profile and there was no "Cold Boot BSOD" i don't think i can class it as solved yet but if it doesn't do it again in the next 7 days then maybe i can think of it as solved what do you guys think does it look like it could be solved?

Thanks all :)

My grandads pc was giving me abit of trouble for while and it turned out it was the XMP Profile that was causing it.

Set the timings, speed and voltages manually and he has not had one since.

His BSOD's were happening when he turned the pc on, watching youtube or playing a game but he wouldn't let me have his pc for a few days to test anything properly.

Hopefully setting the memory up manually works for you.

If you get no more BSODs within 7 days then it is most likely solved, let us know what happens :)

Will do, I'm going to change my Windows 7 Home to Windows 7 Pro over the weekend i think i will be better off with Pro instead of Home in the long run, I'm going to check out Tom's video on setting the Ram up manually instead of using the XMP profiles :D

I have pretty much tried everything expect for setting the memory up manually as it stands atm i'm still getting BSOD and what it will do is a double boot cycle where it will boot up normally on the 1st time and then BSOD with the same file but once it starts the 2nd time it will log into windows like it the 1st time booting up.

So i was speaking to a friend of mine and he told me that his board was doing the same thing so he brought another motherboard and his problem went away i'm not saying this will fix my problems and he also tired everything too.

maybe with me it could be as simple as my combination of hardware where some reason it doesn't like my hardware choice so maybe i might have to sell this board and CPU.

Looks like the only thing left to try is changing your mobo then. Get it replaced and see if it helps, if you still get BSODs then maybe it is your CPU? Might as well rule the motherboard out first though.

problem is i don't have another Z77 board, i'm not going to buy another board off ebay so the only option i have is to buy a Z97 board and a new CPU, i was on the phone with a computer shop yesterday and they said MSI might not even RMA the board. but i have set the memory up in BIOS but i didn't do a cmos reset tho and also i'm using different memory now too so it just a wait and see game.

Thanks for the advice you have given me :)
