MSI Z77 no voltage control ?

I took the plunge last night to have a look in my bios, to start to get my head around overclocking my cpu. I've watched Tom's vid a few times and taken loads of notes, so I thought I'd take a look. The problem I have is when I double click on anything to do with voltages nothing happens as in no drop down box like the MSI has. In the click bios all is fine just in the full uefi. Am I just missing something. I'm on bios V17.5/2012113, what came with the board, I've had no need in upgrading as everything has been fine until now.

Yep nothing mate. Do you think that in Click Bios I will need to change the internal PLL voltage from auto to enabled, could that be conflicting with the actual bios ?

I've just found a guy with the same problem with an MSI board and the reply he got was "It appears you have a CPU that falls in the 44X is all on Auto CPU V. category. Very common, and in truth, 44X still offers a nice performance boost. Try with Enhanced Turbo 'enabled'. OC Genie Button Operation, set to BIOS. With a Turbo OC, I like C1E and EIST 'enabled' and C-State 'disabled'. The bad news if you take the CPU V. out of Auto, the power saving features are lost. Even with EIST 'enabled', the CPU may throttle down, but the voltage will not" What on earth is that all about, I've never even heard of a 44X ?

Try it, but I wouldn't have thought that made a difference.

Are you sure there's no button to unlock voltage control in the BIOS? I don't know my way round the MSI BIOS really to give enough information.

On the left its has got the catagories and to the right it has the options you double click the option to open a drop down menu with auto, enabled ect, I double click and nothing happens.

doesn't that have a dual BIOS switch, if so, check 2nd BIOS.
i had a similar on the 77GD65 where one was "un-optionable" and one fully
selectable. if flashed the BIOS to a newer version and voilà all selectable new and
old BIOS.

My GD55 also has locked values. I have no bios switch so I can not manually overclock. Updated bios and nothing worked. That's my expierence with my first MSI board...

Just check oc genie is not turned on as it will lock the values to the settings it thinks are correct. just turn it off and you will be fine or use my oc genie in the bios settings.. I had to do this on my board, might not work for you but worth a shot.

Was that with the OC Genie customised ? I've found a few vids on OC'ing that way. Also in the control centre under the advanced tab, it opens up a 2nd menu with the ratio that can be adjusted is that the multiplier ? And can you adjust just that ?

I have OC genie on customize. click on My OC Genie and inside that menu there will be multi and Cpu Volts(don't remember what they called it), Adjust those to things only... other options are useless for you.
