MSI X99A XPOWER Gaming Titanium Review

Great move to use the public bios to test this board else everything might have worked fine and you would be like "Hey this is one damn great board".

Awesome review Guv and Kudos to you for working with MSI to get those issues sorted as it's a nice looking board and needs to perform as good as it looks

Great review. i'm glad i saw it as i was going to purchase one for an upcoming build.
I'll sit tight for a while and hopefully we get a decent bios for it soon

Im pretty sure youll see one fairly quick after this, and a surge in reviews....

Updates?

TinyTom, have there been any more updates on this board? I am strongly considering it since I am going to be getting the LPX 2800mhz ram anyway (Good way to afford 64gb)

Thanks!

I see 2 BIOS updates for this motherboard were released after the date of this review :
1.2 26-08-2016
1.3 12-09-2016
But neither description lists improved memory support.
Disappointing!

MSI X99A Titanium Bios Update (re. RAM compatibility)

https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/X99A-XPOWER-GAMING-TITANIUM.html#down-bios

MSI "Support" page for this board (under "Download" tab) is now showing a BIOS version 1.4, dated Sept.26, with note: "Improved memory compatibility problem".

Not sure that last inspires a blazing amount of confidence, i.e., I'd rather see something about "eliminated" memory compatibility problem (if that were possible -- I know, semantics) ...

Also, this seems to have only JUST shown up some time in the last two days. I've definitely been checking there regularly in recent weeks, hoping for just such an update. So whether this BIOS release is "back-dated", or whether they couldn't be bothered to post notice of a newly available BIOS until 1.5 weeks after the fact... neither case inspires a whole lot of confidence there either.

Nevertheless, since there IS now some kind of an update that finally purports to be relevant to the most troubling shortcoming of this MB (I've found scant few reviews of this board other than Tom's at ALL, let alone any that have noted the lack of high-speed RAM support)... I wonder if Tom could give us an updated test of the RAM issue?

Whether or not this is something that can be given immediate further attention, thanks generally for your efforts in any case. I mean, at least I've been warned. I'd have felt rather, umm, "peeved" if I got this board home with a nice set of 4x8GB 3200 CL.14 RAM, only to find my extra ~$60. was wasted on mere aesthetics. There's already quite enough of that going on with my choice of the board itself!
