MSI RTX Gaming X Trio 2080 and 2080Ti Review

So this comes from a newbie that likes to watch graphs, but doesn't really know much about the technical aspects behind them: Both tested 2080s have higher average clockspeeds than their Ti counterparts, so this makes me wonder if the 2080s have better potential of higher OCs being squeezed out of them and maybe they could end up with better performance than the Tis at a lower cost.

Nope :)

2080 has 2944 cores
The TI has 4352 cores.
So its a lot more cores, running at that speed.

Testing method

When doing 1440p test are you using 2560x1440 or 3440x1440?
And what is cpu clock?
Awesome review, keep them comming

Usually its 2560.

When it comes to 3440x1440p we begin considering it considered as WQHD or widescreen. As far as markets go, there are 4 areas these days

1080p > 1440p (2560) > 1440p (3440) > 4k (3840x2160)

No, Nvidia has severely limited the available voltage and thus locked out serious OC. This is something that I missed being mentioned in the original reference card review. They have also locked the OC potential in other ways for the chips sent to the AIBs. Meaning something better is around the corner shortly.

They should still run at the average speed of the 2080s thought, right? I just found it funny, because Tom initially mentioned, that we're supposed to keep our eyes on the average rather than the peak :D

Okay, that makes sense. I kinda knew there was something better coming, given the fact that they release the Ti together. TiX or RTi coming. :D

It will in all probability be the RT Titan

One of the many perks with Nvidia is being one step ahead of the game. I wouldn't be surprised if they have new card derivatives around the corner ready to roll out.

Those are the cards I will be interested to see. I do wonder if AMD fail to product something to counter the RTX, will we see even more developers moving towards Nvidia?

IF RGB was the craze of 2017/2018 in the pc hardware world. Raytracing is the craze in the GPU world right now, something of which everyone is going to try to get in on.

Who knows, might even make some games more enjoyable with added realism and immersion.

Yup. side part is terrible. Breaks the flow of design to me.

The 1080Ti Lightning was the best looking GPU I have ever seen. I wish they could release it on every gen tbh. Doesn't need to be mental, just use the branding, scheme and design.

That really was a stunning card (the 1080Ti one)

It doesn't even need to be as big, or as heavy, or as thick it just needs less on it. It doesn't even need as much RGB as the 1080Ti one had.

It's so frustrating. These guys (designers) must get paid a fortune and yet none of them seem to have any ruddy taste !

Considering TTL did the testing of the usual things he test obviously he will already have had those old results in the graph.
You really need to let it go.

So you go after someone for making a suggestion that not only makes sense but when they followed up by adding more said benchmarks, regardless of if i asked or not, and i say thanks you still go after the person?

There were games that were on this benchmark that were also on the initial 2080 and 2080 ti that didnt cover 1080 ti performance. I said thanks because they added them in, not to be a snarky .

Seriously dude?

If you believe what I said to be going after you you need a better backbone. There was no insult or aggressiveness in the post anywhere.
You were being snarky considering your other post in the other thread calling out OC3D. Since there is no way of telling you weren't being snarky over text it's logical to conclude based off the other thread that yes it can be seen as sarcasm
If it wasn't fine but still the point stands it's irksome to see people say OC3D can't be a reliable source because of a stupid omission that really doesn't effect anything when the omission wasn't intentional.

I was using " going after me " in a sense of the matter that your still replying to my posts, the term doesnt have to mean aggression or insult. Also how can a review website be a reliable source for people when considering to buy a card when they omit them? When you want to provide consumers with the best advice possible its best to give all the details no matter how small because if you dont its not providing them with the information needed to make the best choices and if you cant provide that as a review site then whats the reason to go there?

When you have as many review sites as there are out there that are ALL providing 1080 ti benchmarks and you dont you put yourself at a disadvantage and its one thats, lets be honest, super easy to correct.

I dont say this out of malice to the website but rather to give them advice to make consumers want to use their service.

You cant be the best at what you do if you only do 90% of the work.

Considering I have seen multiple reviews without a 1080ti i'd say you're wrong. Watch your words here. ALL isn't the right one. It's a stupid argument when the cards are less than 5% apart yet hundreds apart in price, used 1080ti's are everywhere. Outside of that for the 4 or less games where it's more than 5% it's not a big deal. You know what you're getting. A 1080ti or better. Throwing in the results just confirms what you already know.

Not having them in does not put them at a disadvantage. It is such a miniscule thing to whine about. But they are there now so drop it already. It's so easy to forget small things when Tom has to do all the testing himself with few hours of sleep for the week leading up to the launch review.
