MSI reveal GTX 1080 Gaming Z RGB Specifications

I wants it cos its got AAAR GEEE BEEEEZ... I can't wait for this tacky fad to end.

I long for the day where the GPU is engineered in such that the cooler appears on the top of the card when inside the case so we can see the nice fan designs. I know it does not bode well in terms of heat rising but I can dream!

I agree i'm really over this RGB s**t it needs to die, i have said plenty of times how hard is it to put a LED strip into the computer all it is that some people are getting lazy and they don't even want to put an LED strip into there computer.

People just need to give up on the "big 3" cause you all know there going to do stupid s**t like just need to look at other companies to don't put RGB's on everything.

Just can't justify the price of the 1080s, and I really don't think the perf of the cards live upto the price either.

I'd say RGB is here to stay. There were loads of complaints that the GeForce Logo was only green and ruined the look of a build or would change colour by heat etc but not to what you wanted it. (Yeah you could mod the logo with some very fine sandpaper and some paint)

At least with most you can just turn it off or keep it a subtle white or whatever. The whole point is you choose what you want it to look like. Personally not a fan of uber bright flashy lights - I have my Strix 980s as you couldn't really get more black at the time but everyone has different taste.

I think the main issue with the nvidia logo was that it was green, which goes with pretty much nothing. It's alright with my yellow mpower board, but green on blue or green on red is terrible. If the logo had been white nobody would've complained. But i don't think anyone would've complained if the logo wouldn't light up at all either.
The LEDs themselves aren't the problem if you can turn them off, it's the other design decisions which follow them. A hole in the backplate exposing an LED isn't nice to look at for example.

Yeah I'd be turning them off for the most part. It's a lot like cars. Some people like loud shouty look at me graphics, stickers, rims, flared guards and custom paint where others want a sleeper that will burn you off the lights while looking like it's something your gran would drive. You're never going to win with everyone. That's why RGB is actually a pretty good move by most.

I'd agree that some of the other design points are a bit gamer/childish but when you think of the market pull $$ that kids have thanks to parents that will give them anything they ask for well it makes sense to an extent.

Personally Green, Red and Blue is beautiful (my hockey clubs colours) but that's just my preference ;)
