MSI MEG X399 Creation Preview

8 real phases.

they use doublers so 2 phases are not out of phase and therfore should be count as one phase.

thought it is industy standard to lie about this.

i would be interested in this board if MSI was not known for having awfull BIOS.

so i wait what the next asus zenith will bring to the table.

I think this is one of the nicest looking boards MSI has ever put out. Really looks good. Also that VRM design, tasty. Can't wait to see Threadripper 2.

Saw that in the video when TTL showed the back of the board.
Lets wait till der8auer gets his hands on one or buildzoid from GN , should get some proper info then .....

OK fart jokes aside...

Look at this heatsink assembly down here. Looks like one piece.

OK, look around the outside shape of it.. Then look at this.

I do like this.

Gets instant bonus points for not being plastered with irregular font text or silly dragons.

hmm seems like the amount of components determines a phase these days not the actual electrical phase.
Its like using 2 spades to dig one hole but calling it 2 holes because it was dug by 2 spades. 2 PWM signals combined to run at the same time is still one phase MSI!
nice looking board though

This is a fantastic looking board IMO I just hope that it performs really well and enough so that it shakes things up a bit

...whilst there have been a lot of good quality AMD motherboards that support the Ryzen CPUs, there hasn't been something which combines the knowledge that the Zen architecture really was a new dawn for AMD with all of the latest hardware and technology.

Um, pretty sure you reviewed, and busted a nut over, the Zenith Extreme, Tom...

Speaking of which, I refuse to believe Asus aren't going to refresh the Zenith. That "cooling upgrade" they've announced seems a bit wimpy. But then again the Zenith is built like a tank, so perhaps it doesn't need to be refreshed.

Still, I think Gigabyte might just take the TR2 crown. That new Aorus looks beastly.

So long as they don't bork the Bios again.

the heatsink is the usual crap. just bling for the eyes.

give me proper fins instead of this nonsense.

but all these RGB freaks and other people who buy after "looks" make technology worse.

for example all these M.2 and VRM plastic heat blockers do nothing but cost extra money. but oh they look so fancy in an aquarium case.....

give me a proper VRM heatpipe cooler made from copper with lots of fins.

ps: it seems that asus has nothing new when it comes to x399, that really surprises me.

well that never stopped them in the past from releasing a new mainboard.
something strange is going on here.

ausu has dozend of intel mainboards that differ in 1 or 2 features.

i doubt that threadripper sells so badly that asus thought developing a refresh is not worth it.
i mean i have two.. :D

so i am really not sure what is the reason.

I must be the only one who thinks that this design looks absolutely horrible. Worse than a kids toy and those heatsinks looks like flowers.
