MSI GTX 1660 Ti Gaming X Unboxing Appears on YouTube

Just going to say it now: This card makes zero sense to me. If I was going to spend the money on this card with no RTX components to it, why wouldn't I just spend a little bit more and get the RTX 2060.

According to online the 1660ti price is suggested at $280...well a RTX 2060 is only $350

A $70 difference is worth it in my mind simply to get the RTX features. Sure nothing really is out there that works with it yet aside from a BF5/Metro Exodus, and to my eyes I don't see a difference that is like "holy crap so much better" but....the difference in price just doesn't make any sense to me.

The 1660ti (I...I do not like that name at all, it sounds stupid) I just don't see selling that well. Just my two cents :P
 
I mean come on it's a 1060 why not just sell it as one utter pointless typical nvidia marketing they suck so hard atm in my viewpoint roll on AMD and hope they give them a good kick up the ****

It's not though, it's a new architecture and if leaks are to be believed, significantly faster.

Though I do hope that Navi delivers later this year, lack of competition leads to price hikes...

It's a lot more than a 1060. The cuda core bump is significant and Turing's changes alone can make a big difference in a lot of games.

Just look at our Forza Horizons 4 performance analysis and you will see that Turing can stomp over Pascal in some games. Other examples include Wolfenstein 2 The new Colossus.

As always, bench for waitmarks. Or something like that.

I really hope AMD has an answer with Navi because this is getting infuriating. As a Canadian, being asked $400+ dollhairs for a Mid range card is straight up extortion.

Uhhh...here is a guy who clearly hasn't handled any of this hardware.
 
I don't get why people expect price drops on the same node, Moore's law has slowed down, this is the only reason price drops don't come as quick as they used to. When companies can actually give you price drops(IE when 7nm is available), you will get them, but for the time being GPU memory prices have risen, the mm^2 cost of silicon hasn't changed much, while the world economy has been slipping.

I'd say getting a new architecture at all pre-7nm is quite impressive, once games start to make better use of Turing at least the value proposition over the dated Pascal architecture will arise there, Turing is much better in terms of future proofing its features.
 
Let's face it, this card exists solely to take on the Vega 56. Otherwise GTX would now be a thing of the past. That is also why it is priced the way it is, though I can see people still going AMD to get the games.
