Some one is selling this MB very cheap including a 4690k cheap.

It has 3x PCI-E x16 and 4x PCI-E x1

However, there is a problem with the PCI-E lanes. He broke the 2nd lane completely and the 1st lane is missing the clipper at the end.

Im considering grabbing this for someone knowing they will not use more than 1 GPU.

Will the GPU work just fine using the 3rd lane this MB provides? Are there any problems/complications that i need to consider?

Thanks!

hmm, hard to know what to say to all this. Don't really trust damaged goods.

Looking at the motherboard specifications the x16 lanes work in a three different configs (16, 0, 0) (8, 8, 0) and (8, 4, 4). Doesn't say if the 3rd lane can work with 8x PCI lanes.

TBH it is preferable to use a GPU in the top slot where it has the most bandwidth. Does the top lane still work?

I'd try to see if you can get just the CPU off him, as the motherboard is a hard sell and a harder resell. What price is he offering?

TBH steer clear of the board as if the first gpu lane is broken all the other lanes including on board will not work as I had the issue happen to me with a gaming 7 board the weight of the gpu's broke the lane and nothing else would work as WYP said try and get the cpu and then get another board

only the second one is broke. he is selling the MB to 75% off only if selling it as a bundle. i could perhaps also ask him to add 2x8gb 1600mhz crucial ballistix for the same price.

so if any of the lanes are broke other 2 are too?

If its via eBay then if you really want to take the risk then by all means go for it.

However if you have no protection then dont even bother. Is saving a few pennies worth the hassle? Thats something only you can answer.
