I have a 24/7 computer where the cpu is most of the time in idle, if I disable c1e, c3/c6 and EIST in BIOS the coilwhine disappears.

It's a gigabyte motherboard and Ive heard that the coilwhine is a normal phenomenon, is it worth to RMA it?

why not just disable those bits then... LOL I never have them on anyways!

Was going to say just this, i find them more hassle than they are worth. With my Phenom 955 the cpu doesn't get the full power it needs half the time because all the cores aren't utilized. Just keep it off and you'll have a more responsive computer and a whine free one!
