Motherboard Advice

Heya All,

Looking to piece together a new spec to work towards over the next few months, So I need a new motherboard, But I have no idea what to look for in today's standards. The CPU I have in mind is the i5 2500K CPU, I will be running a SLI Setup, So I would preferably like 16x/16x. But then again, I don't want to break the bank and spend lot's on a motherboard, of course the motherboard will need to have full tweaking capability.

A few I have been looking at:

ASUS P8P67 Pro Intel P67 (REV B3)

ASUS Sabertooth Intel P67 (REV B3)

Suggestions and debate welcome

I know I could do research etc, but it's confusing listening to one review that raves about this and that, and the other slams it as being the worst motherboard to hit the market, I would rather trust the forum members comments and recommendations.

Wait a few days mate, Bulldozer is coming. And when I say a few days, I mean 4. Even if you are not interested in AMD, it might help to drop the prices of intel HW. Also, I think there will be more Z68 boards coming soon, Maybe SABERTOOTH is on its way?
 
I am not a big AMD fan howerver the new buldozer chips look like they are going to be very good, esspecialy the pricing of the new 990FX chipset boards. Wait until Buldozer and assess your options then.

Didn't know that, thought it was supposed to be revealed @ Computex on the 5th of June...

Anyways, AMD has a lot to catch up with... Hope it won't be one big disappointment.
 
Well.. I'm Intel Fanboy... so Intel it has to be!

What's the best motherboard for around £150? I'll be interested in hearing peoples opinions.

For ~£150, Asus P67 Sabretooth or the Asus P8Z68 V-Pro. In my opinion anyway

If you are considering the PRO and the V-PRO I would go for the V-PRO you get the Lucid chip with the V-PRO which lets you use the Intel Quick Sync for video encoding. I watched the Intel keynotes at CES where they showed Quick Sync encoding a vid faster than a 580.

I think as well, but not 100% sure that you can also use the IGP to boost your the performance of your graphics card using the Lucid chip on the V-PRO.

The one Kilo mentioned, the UD4 is a good board as well but it doesn't have the Lucid chip.
 
Right, I've kind of eliminated the Sabertooth, Although, IMO the Sabertooth looks badass and more enthusiast level. It lacks the extra 2x PCIe,

Yet the Sabertooth has more thermal monitors etc,

The P8P67 PRO is 12 Phase whereas Sabertooth is 8+2,

The P8P67 PRO has two extra PCIe

I can see the Sabertooth being troublesome in the future with dust build up behind the TUF.

EDIT:

So, I've done some more research, and appears that the Asus P8Z68-V PRO seems the way forward.

Fair play, for me the Sabretooth is all about the looks but the V-PRO has more features and is the better board. Post some pics of your build when you get all the parts if you can

I think this thread has helped me make my mind up too. It was a toss up between the V-Pro and the UD4. V-Pro it is
