More ebay scammers or just coincidence

Usually good safe practice to avoid sellers who have no rep especially when it comes to ebay & expensive items at a "great" price, personally I won't buy from abroad anyway almost all foreign countries don't abide by our sales of goods or distance selling acts.

I suspect this has something to do with pre paid credit cards, the ebay and paypal split could also be a factor but why Portugal ?

You get a lot of top gear being sold by sellers from Portugal, I know when I was looking for a rear shock for my mountain bike I found numerous "Zero" feedback sellers selling the same Fox Shocks I was looking for at unbelievable prices all from Portugal or Budapest. The only thing I could work out from them was they were targeted advertising scammers, screening product searches much like google or facebook do.

Different countries different laws, take when I search ebay and say UK Only in the search criteria.. yet I still get item location Hong Kong! Or how when I shop on Amazon."CO.UK" more and more crap is Hong Kong.... they continue to get away with it. Scammers will always get through.

China is the worst for it as it takes about a week for items to reach you, then their broke, wrong or fake, you email them, then wait a week or two for a pigeon English reply.. they then say send it back for a refund.. you post it. They then lie about not receiving the item back and make you wait the 20 day return to sender period. In which time you have exceeded their returns policy and they legally no longer have to refund you.

Well PayPal buyer protection is now 180 days. Though be careful of how many cases you end up opening, else my may get a threat email from PayPal telling you to stop opening cases irrelevant of whether or not it is justified.

This... this right here guys, read it and take it in. Happened to me, only that the buyer claimed about different holidays etc and then never really replied to me. Did in the beginning, but then stopped after me telling them off several times to actually get the item out and putting better packiging on the item. As it was completely shattered upon arrival. Then the 3 month period was over and I had no legal support behind me to take action against them.

Though they did have some popularity to them... but still, I never buy that expensive stuff on eBay. Just smaller stuff.

I'd stay away from used electronics on eBay in general... although I do sell on there sometimes, I don't trust people enough to buy.

i will say this the few times i did risk buying from a seller with 0 sales or purchaces i was happy with the deal.
having said that i do avoid doing it. sometimes the fact they do have such little feed back forces them to lower the price so you get things cheaper.
accounts do get hacked "russians had mine for ages, never did anything with it. but i had to use my wifes one for over a year because of it."
when i did have to use my wifes one she had 0 sales and a few purchases so i had to build her reputation up like i had mine.
Still i have mine back now. but that is only 1 example.
i imagine some are doing it to scamm or sell stolen goods etc..

I sell and buy on Ebay. I only ever ran into issue once with not getting a payment with a person who had less than 10 feedback. Wasn't a big deal but it's still annoying. I have less than 10 feedback myself but I know people can trust me as a buyer and seller so I don't sweat it much. If they have questions I answer or I ask before buying.. you'd be amazed at how many questions you'd get after someone buys something even after you tell them to ask before buying.
