Monitor Gets Stuck in Stand By Mode

Hey,

I have my Monitor to turn off after 15 minutes of no use sometimes it will get stuck and it will not come back on unless i disconnect the DP cable and reconnect the cable and this is a brand new cable and it doesn't matter what version of GPU drivers i have it has done it off & on but not every time it goes into Stand By Mode.

I have this issue on both AMD & Nvidia GPU's so it's not just AMD with me.

Is it just cause the drivers are crappy, The GPU is R9 390 or is it more of a Windows issue

Am i just better off not using the "Turn off the display" feature in Windows.

Thanks

TBH I don't turn my monitor off, If the pc is on for extended periods of time I just use a screen saver like bubbles and my screen just partly switches itself off when I shut down it could be a Windows issue or just a bug in your monitor itself

My top monitor will go a bit weird from time to time. I have a Surround display with the other three panels. Same thing just randomly disconnects (in game I use it to monitor temps, iTunes, facebook, youtube etc. It really only disconnects itself when it's idle but always seems to be when I'm in a game spanning the other three and has only been since Win 10. I get the windows notification noise when you plug something in or pull something out.

Probably a driver issue but has been consistent yet intermittent for the last few months..

I can unplug the cable and press all the buttons it doesn't do much. It comes back on when it wants and is not detected at all in Windows until then.

I've tried different cables and doesn't make a difference. This one is DVI (it's pretty old)They are set to go to sleep after 15 mins and deep sleep when I switch off the pc. Might be power management - could be drivers. Probably not the cable if you have a new one (as mentioned in your other thread)

I was just about to start a new thread on this one. I got the same issue with a 970. I was assuming it's my monitor but now I'm questioning the card? Or could this be a windows 10 issue? Never had this until updating to the most recent build. Anyone else?

I think it's either a Nvidia driver or more likely a Windows error i had the error off & on since like Windows XP days, All i have done is don't like the mointors go into stand by mode just have a blank screen as the screensaver to kick in after 10mins of non use, It didn't matter what GPU i was using AMD or Nvidia.

Windows XP to Windows 10 when i was using 10 for the very short time i did, I can't remember if i had the same problem with Windows 98 or 2000 it's too long ago.

i dont know if this helps but i was currently doing a build for a family member and i used my benq 144hz monitor to install windows and boot etc. normally i use a DVI cable but this build i just used the hdmi straight off the mobo. anyway the screen wouldnt come on(i ended up stumped and used another monitor) later i found out it was because it was used to having a DVI cable in instead, something to do with analogue and digital media output. make sure your default setting on the screen is set to the connection youre using. not sure if its the correct route but its worth a stab :)

I've had something similar I guess? when I connected the DP to my Fury X when I shut the rig down the display will not switch off unless I pull the DP cable. Thankfully it has a remote control..

What brand of cable are you using? I have had this problem before, and when I switched to a vesa certified cable, it stopped. I started buying Accel cables, and my DP problems went away.
