modifying windows layout and colours.

tonight i messed around with the look of windows but have one quick question.

how do i make the text in the black square on the image below black without deactivating compression ?

i believe you use tweak UI, its a powertoy for XP, in the Explorer chain, go to "Colors" and change the "Compressed files" colour to black

that is assuming your using xp and not vista lol

I always configure xp using Tweak UI it's like a required installation before I'll use my PC..

gets rid of ALL icons on the desktop if your a clean freak too

xp it is with alittle touch of vista but thanks for the help

feels much better with a changed look compared to xp's original look.

damn straight i couldnt imagine my pc without

vista bricopack,object dock and sysmetrix(sysmetrix is a neat prog to display info and it also hides desktop icons)

again used to and had MANY nice configs that i setup but i haven't used it since my last format tbh

have a simple question for you all to think about when im sleeping

used tweak ui and changed acouple of settings, then uninstalled gfx drivers ran drivercleaner and went back to gfx drivers 87.something and now stylexp crashes during bootup but it starts fine when windows have finished loading.

any clues ?

tried reinstalling stylexp but was a nogo.

anyone using samurize ?

I had it for about 4 hours while I messed with it and it seemed to make my comps stability go to complete **** and act completely retarded. Never tried it since.

Not that I use it anymore but imo Samurize is prolly one of the better, least intrusive system monitoring engines. I never had an ounce of grief with it, but others obviously have. I'm prefrering the spartan desktop atm.

i have seen a big bunch of desktop images with samurize and some of them looked quite neat.
