Mobo help!

So guys I am a bit curious atm.. I am building a new rig and working on getting all the parts together. I will be using my rig for gaming mostly and was wondering if it is worth spending $175 for a high end mobo or if i can drop down to say a MSI GD 45 or so... I am not that knowledgeable on overclocking so i just need my mobo to be able to hold 1-2 7950's, 3570k, and my memory.

So the question really is... Can i go with just a basic mobo for what i need it to do without all the bells and whistles?

I have the same combo,
and i believe someone said it is NOT for overclocking or something like that,

well i am at 4500Mhz F@H 24/7 and i have had it at 4700Mhz for benching ,
so no idea who that was and why he said that?!

oo i think it was Tom LOL

Greetings, Ray........

You would be fine with that motherboard for what you are doing but why get the unlocked version of the CPU if you aren't going to be overclocking?

Id say for the $10 differnece its not worth it to get a non K series and later on realise you want to try overclocking and you are limted to what you can do. But as far as the MSI is concerned id say as long as you are buying the z77 version id say its great for you. Its cheap and still gives you the newest technology. If you are going into a build not planing on overclocking everything then go with a cheaper but reliable MOBO and only the features you know you will use.

Edit- If you do get the OC genie use at own risk or not at all I herd alot of mixed opinions on it.
