Min Air flow space between 2 parallel rads w/ push/pull fans?

Sorry if this is a total newbie question, but if I have 2 rads parallel to one another, both with push/pull fans, what is the minimum space you'd recommend between them in the middle to get the best air flow? I'm looking for thoughts on when the fans are pushing air toward each other and when the fans are pulling air away from each other. Also, you wouldn't necessarily have peripheral fans feeding air in or out of the middle of the 2 rads and instead just mesh for the air to escape to or intake from.

I'm trying to decide which caselabs case to get, and seeing how far I can push the design with all of the available design options. I saw some pictures on overlock.net of the situation I thought about and it looks like it may be less than optimal because of there was only about 50mm of space between.

In all honesty, the space isn't going to make much of a difference. You'd probably do just as well using 3 sets of fans (so; fan->rad->fan->rad->fan) and use the saved money to buy better fans in this config.
