During Microsoft's live briefing yesterday, it was announced that users could upgrade to Windows 10 for free if you are running a system with Windows 7, 8 or 8.1. Unfortunately though, there is some bad news as Microsoft has announced Windows Surface RT tablets won't be getting Windows 10.

In a statement provided to The Verge, Microsoft confirms the Surface Pro 3 and "entire Surface Pro line-up" will get the update to Windows 10, but Windows RT won't get the full OS. "We are working on an update for Surface, which will have some of the functionality of Windows 10. More information to come," says a Microsoft representative. This means tablets like the Surface RT and Surface 2 won't get Windows 10.

Microsoft refuses to comment anymore on the mysterious update but its likely to mean just a selection of Windows 10 apps will be heading to the Surface RT.

This is a shame for the Surface RT and looks like the ARM tablet is on its way out for good with only Microsoft themselves still making use of it as other technology giants Dell, Lenovo, Asus and Samsung parted ways with it in 2013.

Off topic I know, but how's your mum getting on with the SP3? Good option for her?

She doesn't use it much. She has it as a personal laptop and uses the older one for school and her work gave her one for.. well work:p

So whenever she uses it it's only for a little bit but after her schooling in a few months she will have more time for it. As of now she's really only used it for internet stuff but she loves how crisp the text looks and everything looks "colorful and vibrant". She loves it but not much time to use it so far, certainly better than her older laptop though. I'm jealous of it and i want one:p
