oh dear brooksie.. I can guarrantee it'll break again in a few weeks, mine broken once, sent it back got it back in 2 weeks exactly.. works a complete dream.. The towel trick as said before just breaks other stuff... I dont understand why people bother.. Just send it back and get one

THAT WILL NOT BREAK AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!

providing they send you a new mobo as opposed to just fixing it. Send it back as soon as possible, say its playing up every now and again.

For a PC enthusiast i would think you be more smarter than that, as being the 360 is a PC in itself. I sure hope thats sarcasm.

I can just see it now -

User - Hello my new motherboard that i bought the other day for my PC is not working, it seems to overheat then switch off, the board looks warped, can i have an RMA number please.

Tech support - You dont need an RMA just yet, what we need to you to do is wrap it up in a towel so it is completely smothered, switch it on for half an hour and that should sort the issue.

User - Hello did I just ring PC world by mistake? :p

Seriously. If you wouldnt wrap your PC in towels then why would you wrap a machine with more cooling problems then a Prescott P4 in towels?

because its a proven quick fix,sh1t,get over it.

end

Yeah quick fix for when GTA comes out.. Once it comes back (hopefully not before GTA.. touch wood) i'll send it back.

Is it possible to mod the 360 to put any more/better fans in it? I get what the towel trick is doing but surely not going to be a permenant solution.

What`s the towel deal ? Got 2 fudged ones that crapped the day after their warranties went, both replacements.

wrap it 2 towels for 15 mins, which blocks all air coming out so it overheats.. then once 15 mins is over let it cool down for 15 then it should work

I don`t think so from a 360 mobo that`s already busted. That`d probably require some precision soldering first.

From new tho, I know the exterior fanage addons only prolong the impending disaster - pushing u further out of warranty date.

Warping the mobo to make contacts.

Yeah thus making it work :)

Yea, and when your in the middle of a game it will crap out on you again. Stupid idea tbh.

You wont be saying that when the warranty is over and you do that and cant get it replaced. Take care of it now and it will probably last longer. Get over it, / end.

Hmm.. Didn't work for me first time, but did on the second attempt.

I know alot of you are saying "your just making it worse" I know. But it's a quick fix so I can play some GTA.. It comes out next tuesday i'll probably send it back next time it breaks.

Wouldn't that make them even louder? If you're in the case anyway to mod them, why not change to a quieter and higher powered fan?
