i dont want any more game services..
just installed origin today again to check it out. and loe and behold.. Subscription of £3.99 a month was offered to me.
I knew thats what they would do, and sure enough the entice you in with free games. "27 to be exact" that you can play for this £3.99 Provided you pay that £3.99 a month every month, because if you stop then those games are gone.. and you have to buy them.. But thats not all..
You have your subscription. your playing your game, all is well your about 60 hours in all is fine. And ea pull that game from the vault (they are allowed to do it its in the tos) Now if you want to continue playing you have to buy the game any way.
And this is what i said they would do, Fair enough. right now its only 27 free games locked behind a subscription. but it wont be long before your paid for games are also trapped behind a subscription service, And whats more. paying that subscription wont stop them pulling servers offline because they milked that cash cow enough any way.
So yeah no more stores.
Uplay and origin can go away.
I do use gog because i like the fact that they want to show people will buy games with no drm.
So i buy those games just to help prove that point.
Microsoft store?? You know for a fact that thing is going to end up subscription based if you want to play your games online. That is simply what they are going to do.. It may not be this year, may not be next year but it will happen..
So Given that I know by now that steam is not going to go subscription based. And it seems to be making enough money from game sales, and all those idiots uploading WoW trailers to steam green light for $100 a pop. I will be sticking with steam..
And if Microsoft, ea or ubisoft want to try and sell me games, then they need to put the dumb things on steam Or gog where i may actually buy them.
they will not get a sale out of me if they are not where i shop, and i will not give them the ability to force a subscription out of me by holding games i bought (or parts of them) at ransom.
P.S
thought id mention i like Denuvo, and hope every one stops trying to crack it. and the ones that can and have just dont give the cracks out.
i dont like stupid always on DRM forcing people to be online to play single player games and so on. and im much happier with a DRM that checks you own the game. says ok that is This pc, and lets you play it.. then if you change components you go online and say look here i need this re activated, and then it works again.
if people just leave this drm alone then it shouldnt end up with every game publisher having their own stupid store and gouging people with subscriptions to recuperate all the game sales they imagine they lost due to piracy.
