Microsoft reveals crazy powerful Xbox Series X's specifications

That would be great. Even stuff like GOW5 is mad in size. To the point where the blu ray only installs about 20%, then I have an epic wait on 40mb.

I also hope someone makes a converter so you can use NVME drives. I hate anything proprietary.

To be honest I'd assume there'd be 2TB expansion card models at launch (assuming this doesn't divert a huge amount from an NVMe drive) and larger over the years, people would definitely pay for it, then you're still talking like 20ish games at 150GB per title that you could instantly launch and then more "nearby" on external storage. But it makes sense to only allow drives within their minimum performance targets at least, which I assume is the main point of this, especially if they're expecting titles to use it as fallback from main memory quite a lot.

But to be honest, both consoles launched with only 500GB models and very limited external support, so it could be worse.

Yeah but in a PS4 Pro they added the drive carrier into the back, so changing it is dead easy for any SATA drive be it SSD or HDD.

It's one thing I don't like about the XB1X. Changing it is complicated and annoying.

I wouldn't expect many 8k textures. I would expect 4k at max and then just have them scaled up. There's no incentive for 8k at the moment with little if anything available for consumers to even use it. It's more of a future problem if anything.

They can only reduce textures so much with compression. So I still expect file sizes to get larger. This is also a reason for cloud gaming. Don't need storage if you ain't storing it.

Uhhh 8K textures isn't really related to display resolution. With 16 gigs of memory 8192*8192 pixel textures are almost expected for larger surfaces.

This looks amazing. I'm actually considering to buy this instead of replacing my RX 480, I have a 1440p 144 Hz FreeSync monitor, and this will support it, I also bought an One S mainly to play Red Dead Redemption and got more games that will be enhanced with the new console and also use as 4K blu ray player.

I think AMD needs to offer a pretty interesting GPU, not like RX 5700 XT (same with RTX 2070 Super) if they want my money.

These are good specs. It is for the first time that consoles actually have decent hardware. I am happy because now game graphics can actually evolve. We will see a massive improvement in visuals in the coming year or two.

Graphics have been evolving? Compare a game from 2014 on a console to now and it's a pretty stark difference. Especially given the Pro/One X.

To me the more important thing is we have finally enough RAM and CPU power to really expand games. Better AI and interconnected systems is awesome. Might actually be able to get Strategy games for consoles if they allow K&M. We only have the basic ones available now.

I doubt that. We will now be limited to what these new consoles can do for another 5 years.

Well, that and the massive overheads for gaming on a PC.
