Microsoft - No Blu-Ray for the 360

urgh so what happens if your connection isn't very good, they haven't taken that into consideration... drives ftw. downloads ftl.

I have a rediculously fast fibre connection on some bt trial, but I tend to watch movies quite regularly and that's just not economical.

digital downloads are the way forward regardless of what anyone else says!!! you'll all see them soon!

"you cant sell on rentals etc"

At the moment and for the foreseeable future its a bad idea... Fact is while most of our lines are copper then we aint gonna have the download speeds to support it. Hmm wanna watch a film?? Ahh just go download it.. Only gonna take an hour or so.

Makes me laugh though... If they didn't think discs were worth it and truly the way forward was digital downloads then why release the HD-DVD add on in the first place??

Yeah right, the Playstation Store is only an imagination of mine and the PSP or the PS3 don't have digital content distribution systems...

But to be honest, Sony's Playstation Store *sucks* because there's no content that'd be remotely interesting.

Not a good idea. As Bungral has said... copper wires are slow and cannot support such a load.

Plus, with all this downloading we are all going to be accused of being pirates. Arrrh! :)

hmmm, i cant remember making this post, infact i'm pretty sure i was alseep. I hadnt been drinking either, think i might need to change my password!!

lmao some chick did that to me when I left oc3d minimized.

I tend to think that if bluray was owned by pioneer or samsung or similar, the chances are it would appear on the next console as a matter of fact.

What m$ are doing is exploring avenues other than paying sony at a premium.

Still think m$ would have done well to take over HDDVD just for their console use. Be good for anti-piracy, being as writers would be very very exclusive and expensive, and it would retain gaming potential on hd.

As for bluray - all they need to do is make it usb/firewire workable on their system, instead of blocking stuff.

Digital Media is a good idea but people will ALWAYS want some physical form to be able to hold and claim as theirs so sooner or later M$ will realize that having a Blu-Ray player will be a good idea, also who are the people that do their consumer research because they REALLY need to be fired, it seems like they always do the opposite of what the consumer wants lol.
