Microsoft has created a custom version of Windows 10 for the Chinese Government

Get me this with English!!!

Yup, I agree... In all honesty though, I don't really get what all of this "spying" is going to do for companies like Microsoft, Facebook etc?. What are they spying/collecting really and at what purpose/what are they doing with all this information they secretly gather from their users?...

They barely take any information. Certainly less than all the other big companies. They use this data to improve there services and in the case of Google/FB/Twitter/social media/Amazon in general, they use it to make money off targeted ads and other things... MS should be the least of your worries.

Right, so from what I understand by your post now... They just collect certain data that is targeted for ads?. Not like personal information, what you have on your PC, what your watching, how much porn you've got etc etc. I guess you get where I'm getting at here?...

lol

Microshaft know what's on your system they also get just as much data as Google does they also have a crap ton of IP address that are always phoning home.

People trying to say oh Microshaft collects less data than Google, Twitter & Facepoo there full of crap.

I people try and use this version of Windows and Microshaft finds out they can easy screw up your Windows install and if that happens i'll be laughing my ass off when it does.

As a software dev that deploys software that also remotely logs statistics, i can entirely see why Microsoft collects data. With the complexity that a piece of software like windows would have trying to troubleshoot and implement new features would be next to impossible without the power of huge data sets to tell you the behavior of the software on a myriad of different system configurations and under different use conditions

I don't have much of a beef with data collection. What bugs me is that they don't tell you what they collect, and you have no say in it. If MS wasn't so hush hush about it, I'd have a lot less of a problem with it. But when you're on a crippled internet connection like me, and EVERY time you start your PC, you see your entire 1.7Mb net connection get used up for 10-15 minutes, it's REALLY goddamned annoying. I have to boot my PC up and wait 10 minutes before I can actually use the internet, because MicroSuck is uploading tons of crap without telling me anything. That's my beef.

I'm totally with you on the whole thing. I'm not bothered with it really, as long as I know what EXACTLY they are actually collecting data about.

They collect it all every site you visit every key stroke the lot.
Anyone that thinks that data mining is minimal are deluded every bit of data across the globe is mined and filtered and searched.

And why is that then?... What can they possibly want to search for in my searches?. So much for your own privacy and integrity lol.

Should use Ultimate Windows Tweaker 4. I use it and it disables many things to keep it more streamlined (as in security)

Money. Data =Money.
In the case of MS who don't make money from you using Windows, it's mostly for troubleshooting like kleptobot said.

100% correct

Microshaft is collecting so much data they don't even know what to do with it all.

IMO Microshaft is collecting more Data than even Google.

People also seem to forget there're built-in back doors for Windows for the NSA to get into lol

lol someone might get upset or have a (meltdown) cause you quoted me, Hahaha

Whatever dude believe what you want to believe

I will believe what i want to believe

I have talked to Sysadmins on a different forum and they have said you CAN"T disable everything on Windows 10 Microsoft have 100's of IP address so you just CAN"T disable everything.

When the new update comes out Microsoft aim is to kill every single one of those tweaking programs so you can't use them.

Facebook knows a lot more about the public facing side of people, stuff that they'd choose to put on a public profile. Microsoft know a lot more private stuff, like where you stash your porn or what dodgy websites you used. With an OS it has the opportunity to reach into every area of you using a PC. Facebook is limited to what you put on a single website.

I 100% agree with this.
